Memories of September 11 are forever etched in our minds. We will never forget the victims and heroes of that day, nor the strength of this nation, its people, and our steadfast commitment to freedom.
Yes, very well said. But I am sure that all of us reading this, can remember where they were that day. Mine was very rememberable. As I reflect my drive to the rear gate of Fairchild Air Force Base near Spokane Washington- I was only a block away, so it wasn't a long drive, but listening to the radio, it didn't take long to hear what was happening on the "Morning Drive", and how I first thought it was a skit that the hosts were playing. By the time I made it to the gate, I saw that we were still in Exercise Threatcon Bravo. Approaching the gate, I mentioned to the guard that he would soon be changing his Threatcon to something much different than "Exercise Threatcon" very soon. He of course asked, "Why was that?" So I proceeded to tell him what I was listening to and the horror on the radio. It was just after I walked in to my work at the WSA, that I was told that the whole base was shutting down and no one was allowed on or off base. Twenty two years ago, that day is a day worth remembering, for sure.
I still remember that morning...headed to the pentagon on the metro when the world seemed to stop, followed by panic, disillusionment, and fear. But what rose from the ashes that day was the pride of a nation, the comfort of each other, and the optimism that we are stronger together. We can never forget the losses and sacrifices of so many that day, and we nust continue to embrace what we can accomplish as this strong nation. #patriotic #neverforget
Hi Kathy I lived in El Segundo with my family on those fateful days. I woke in the morning had a shower as I walked through to the kitchen the TV showed a plane in real time flying into the side of the tower. On arrival at work we were all sent home as Boeing was a target. Work colleagues, neighbor's and friends had been in NY at a meeting and stayed overnight rather than catch the last plane back to LA, They where on the plane heading for Washington, One male called his wife, they knew what was happening and fought to save the plane, they did turn it from its target, but it crashed in the field. A lot of friends and neighbor's and colleagues died on that plane. It hangs heavy in my heart, I hope the family's and children left behind have manged to have a life and fill their dreams. My thoughts are with them always.
Thank you Kathy for your reminder. We will never forget. There are very few dates that are ones that will forever be etched in our minds; December 7th Pearl Harbor, November 22nd JFK Assassination, April 6th Martin Luther King Assassination, and September 11th, the most devastating attack on American Soil. May we never, ever forget these dates and their significance as to who we are as a nation and people.
I still remember where i was, and what the somber disbelief of what was happening. A day like no other and the hard task of rescue, recovery, rebuilding, and the years of the war on terrorism. Rest in peace brothers and sisters. I will not forget you and your families.
"To those who sacrificed everything on 9/11, your courage and legacy will forever stand as a testament to the strength of the human spirit."
Kathy, honouring the resilience and unity that emerged from such a tragic event is essential. It’s a reminder of the enduring commitment to safeguarding freedom and supporting those who defend it.
