All aboard the world's longest light rail line! ?? The Foothill Gold Line extension (recently renamed the A Line) has reached substantial completion and is one step closer to bringing better connections to transit riders across Los Angeles County! This project extended the LA Metro A Line by 4 stops and aims to welcome riders later this year. We worked with Kiewit-Parsons to provide construction compliance environmental monitoring services for the project's most environmentally sensitive areas. Project Facts: ???Extends the A line to a total of over 57 miles (the world's largest light rail line!) stretching from Long Beach to Pomona. ?? ?? Green Belt Victory Through Innovative Approach ?? Emery Planning has secured planning permission on appeal for the demolition of a bungalow and construction of a replacement two-storey dwelling with ancillary outbuilding in the Green Belt. ???? The Inspector considered that the new dwelling would be materially larger than the existing one, and would, therefore, constitute inappropriate development in the Green Belt. This is normally a significant hurdle to overcome. ?? However, our team took an innovative approach. We had previously sought a Certificate of Lawful Proposed Development to confirm that the existing dwelling could be extended without planning permission, using permitted development rights. ??? This successful appeal highlights our ability to think creatively and identify novel solutions to complex planning challenges. Even in the face of Green Belt policies, we can deliver positive outcomes for our clients through our technical expertise and innovative approach. ???? Today, $384,400 was awarded to the Town of Ashburnham for a culvert replacement project through DER’s Stream Continuity Program! This funding will support the construction of replacing a degraded and undersized culvert on East Rindge Road over Bluefield Brook with one that meets the Massachusetts Stream Crossing Standards. Additionally, the Town will host several trainings led by DER to educate local roadway managers on culvert replacements, sharing lessons learned from this and other projects as a part of the Culvert Replacement Training Site Initiative. The Battery Coastal Resilience project is taking shape, thanks to union contractors and carpenters with the New York City District Council of Carpenters. This critical effort will protect and revitalize The Battery, a historic 25-acre park located at the tip of Manhattan, in response to the growing threats of climate change and rising sea levels. The project features a newly constructed seawall, a pile-supported waterfront esplanade, drainage improvements, and sustainable design elements. Trusted union contractors Walsh Construction, D’Annunzio & Sons, and American Pile and Foundation are executing the work in carefully planned phases to minimize disruptions.
