? Journal of Physical Activity & Health Spotlight Dec 2024 ?? Adrian Bauman and colleagues published a paper examining the evolution of publications in the field of physical activity. They observed that as the field has expanded, the volume of publications has also increased; however, there has been a marked exponential rise in publications appearing in journals of questionable quality. ?? A national conference on samskabelse / collaboration with patients and relatives in health research organised by OUH Odense Universitetshospital – Svendborg Sygehus at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Southern Denmark, Syddansk Universitet - University of Southern Denmark. ?? Big steps: patients and relatives have been part of the team planning and organising the conference. ?? Three patients delivered the first keynote lecture. Making it clear from the start as to what it is all about: collaborative health research to improve the lives / health of patients and relatives. ?? ??? Good to catch up with colleagues (both academic and non-academic peers) and see how they make their first steps and or set their marks in the field of collaborative health research! Food for thought & inspiration. ?? ?? ?? "Authenticity, legitimacy and lots of love." At the time I was asked to submit the title for my talk, I was reflecting a lot on how I had worked with patients in developing a module. How you can "prepare" for equal partnership all you want, if you don't feel you 'belong' (in the setting / collaboration), not been given authority and therefore have not internalised the legitimacy that has been given, equal partnership is not happening. And that leads to a loss of knowledge and authenticity. Treating patient involvement / samskabelse as a deeply relational process, and studying it as such (and thus not using the normative positivist methods for process evaluation) might help us towards meaningful community / patient involvement and doing it 'right'. #reflexivity #selfawareness #authenticity thank you Henrik Nürnberg, Birgitte, Vibeke, Lene Hinnerup Hartmeyer, Mette Lindholm B. Amlund and many others for organising this gathering and allowing for knowledge sharing.

I just posted a really long post over on Bluesky (check it out here! https://lnkd.in/g89KiWvZ) on a cool paper we just published in PLOS Global Public Health. In the recap, I tipped my hand as to what I believe the ultimate service of PLOS GPH and other global and public health journals, and on research as a whole, should be: "Ultimately, those of us in global health publishing want research to impact lives for the better. Improving health equity competencies in training is critical to this - the best change comes from changing systems and from ensuring health equity lenses are embedded from the beginning." I hope we're inching towards this goal with each paper we publish, with each study that's cited, with each health policy that improves people's lives influenced by our authors' work. Check out all our latest research here: ?? https://plos.io/3PfaYkp Submit your manuscript here: ?? https://lnkd.in/g348iCdz
