?? **Transforming Participatory Mapping with USAFIRI - An Open-Source Mapping Tool** ?? **How It Started:** Back in 2017, I was hired as a Participatory Mapping Consultant for a Vulnerability and Capacity Assessment project. It was during this time that I realized the critical need for a tool that communities could use to map local resources in a collaborative manner. Fast forward to 2022, we collaborated with EPFL, World Bicycle Relief, and other partners to develop the first version of a tool specifically designed for transportation need assessments. ?? **Where We Want to Take This:** Looking ahead, our vision is to evolve this tool into a comprehensive open-source digital mapping platform. We aim to empower communities to design interventions across various sectors, including health, transportation, climate change, disaster risk reduction (DRR), and more. By expanding its capabilities, we hope to make participatory mapping more accessible and impactful for everyone. ?? Key Points: - ??
