A picture is worth a 1000 words, this picture doesn't even tell half the transformation that has come from this one session with a client. CLIENT ECZEMA results!! For those of you who question the power of healing the parent to help the child. Here is a picture of a young 3yo feet after ONE birth trauma healing session, that I did with the mother. The eczema was so intense she couldn't sleep at night for the itching. This child was also very anxious to be separated from mother. She would literally not be able to leave her mother's side. Doctors could do nothing and mother had tried everything. Well, not quite everything. Because Eczema is often not a physical issue, it's emotional. The emotional root cause of eczema is A Separation conflict. Either, wanting to seperate from someone we can't. Or Being separated from someone we don't want to be. So possible triggers for eczema in children are events like: In womb trauma (mother is experiencing a lot of stress and is disconnected from her unborn child) Child sensing fear from mother (and father) due to arguments etc and wants to stay in womb and not separate from mum, Starting preschool/kindergarten etc and child doesn't want to leave mother . Parents separating when child is young. Parents leaving child in care of someone else. Being taken off the breast too soon (hence eczema around the mouth). Emotional separation - parent isn't present to child's needs due to their own emotional challenges. Birth trauma - baby being separated from mother/father at birth. Birth of a new sibling. This list is not absolute yet it gives you a possible inroads into what could be happening for the child that is triggering eczema. Working with the mother is powerful, because the mother receives healing as does the child. This photo is evidence of what is possible this is after 1 x birth trauma healing. This is life changing for the mother and the child. Deep healing is possible with the right support and tools. #Healing #WellBeing #wellness #Eczema #Skin #Psoriasis #MindBody #BioCompass #GermanyMedicine #RootCauseAnalysis #Healed #Health #Holistic #IntegratedHealth #complementarymedicine #LifestyleMedicine #epigenetics #metahealth

???? October is Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) Awareness Month. It’s a time to raise awareness, understand the complexity of this syndrome, and educate caregivers about safe sleep practices to protect our little ones. The heart-wrenching loss of losing your infant is unbearable, remember to continue to reachout to the family, friends, and organizational supports around you. If you have experienced a loss like this you are not alone. Often you can feel alone, confused, hurt, angry, sad, and shame. Grieving is a rollercoast and it takes time. If you are in need of talking to someone, please reach out to someone at Compass Psychotherapy or another support. One theory that may help explain the complexity of SIDS is the Triple Risk Model which looks at how some infant's may have some intrinsic biological vulnerability, especially during the Critical Developmental Period (when systems are still maturing during the first 6 months), and external stressors like sleep environment or infections that the infant cannot adequately respond to. ???? Did you know that putting babies to sleep on their backs, using a firm sleep surface, and avoiding soft bedding can significantly reduce the risk of SIDS? ?? Join us in spreading the word! Share important information, resources, and personal stories to help parents and caregivers learn how to create a safer sleep environment for infants. ?? Together, we can honor those affected by SIDS and work towards preventing future tragedies. Your voice matters! #SIDSAwarenessMonth #SafeSleep #ProtectOurBabies #ChildSafety #Kingston #YGK #Niagara #Toronto #CompassPsychotherapy #Authenticyou #psychotherapy #grief #loss #burlington #hamilton

“If we don't stand up for children, then we don't stand for much.”?— Marian Wright Edelman In these stressful times in our country we must not forget the impact that stress has on children. When all they see and hear is negativity and violence and are to young to understand and often frightened it will happen to them. As caretakers of our children it goes far beyond taking care of their physical needs as their minds are also developing often faster than their bodies. We must not forget the impact that what they are seeing and hearing is making an impression on their brain so we must protect them from being exposed to the stressful events whenever possible. The impact of extended stress on a child's development is profound. Toxic stress can alter the child's nervous system, immune system, and even DNA. It causes changes in the brain, leading to issues like PTSD symptoms and impaired cognitive functions. Furthermore, toxic stress can suppress the immune system, increasing the risk of chronic health conditions like asthma, heart disease, and cancer. These changes in DNA can affect bodily functions and possibly be passed on to future generations. It is up to us as adults to pay attention to what the children are exposed to as the media has an insatiable desire to push the ugliest side of society which can cause stress and fear in a young child. #ChildDevelopment #ToxicStress #MentalHealth #HealthImpacts

The Birth Trauma Inquiry report is now published. I have yet to read it in full but one recommendation stands out for me which is the recommnedation to extend the time limit for bringing litigation for injured birthing parents from three to five years. Following trauma of this kind, just getting through the next day and the next can be a huge challenge, let alone having the headspace to deal with making a hospital complaint, or to make an informed decision whether to embark on the litigation route. https://lnkd.in/eRA5uGE2

The all party parliamentary group on birth trauma had some harrowing findings for us today. We need to do better for those we care for, families, future families and our staff. Safe care starts with us and so many of us don’t feel safe and work to burnout in order to provide the best care we can. Hopefully change is on the way https://lnkd.in/ebZiA2-p
