We are proud to share a big milestone with the release of the Common Community Physics Package (CCPP) v7.0.0. The CCPP is a state-of-the-art infrastructure designed to facilitate community-wide development of atmospheric physics parameterizations, support their interoperability among different modeling centers, and enable the transition of research to operations in NWP and climate modeling. The CCPP consists of two elements: the Physics (a repository of parameterizations) and the Framework (an infrastructure for interfacing the parameterizations with host models).

#QTNano: With the aim to improve the current knowledge concerning small oxide clusters, we employed a framework based on the combination of the Tree-Growth scheme and Euclidean Similarity Distance (TG-ESD) algorithm to obtain a reliable set of structures for (MO2 )n , where n = 1 ? 15 and M = Ti, Zr, and Ce. All selected configurations are evaluated by density functional theory calculations, which yields insights into the behavior the physical and chemical properties as function of size. Through the titania systems, we validate the TG-EDS algorithm, which yield the same putative global minimum configurations (pGMCs) found in the literature, or even structures with smaller energies. https://lnkd.in/dk7UGVeP https://lnkd.in/dXbwv4Nu

1950?The National Bureau of Standards dedicates its Standards Western Automatic Computer (SWAC) at the Institute for Numerical Analysis in Los Angeles. Rather than testing components like its companion, the SEAC, the SWAC had an objective of computing using relatively off-the-shelf technology. It used a Williams Tube -- a modified CRT capable of modest (256 word) electrostatic bit storage -- and a magnetic drum (4,096 words) for storage. The word length was 37-bits and it could add two operands in 64 microseconds. The SWAC performed much useful work, including searching for Mersenne prime numbers, X-ray crystallography, linear and differential equation solving and operated until December 1967. Alhamdulillah ( Praise be to Almighty ) My second journal, “Elastic bound modes in the continuum in architected beams”, published in the Physical Review Applied. Bound modes in the continuum (BICs) is a new class of localized modes found in frequency passband. This work is one of the forefront works on elastic BICs where I am able to observe an elastic BIC experimentally. Besides the experiment, I also discuss the theoretical and computational aspects of the work before concluding the experiment that means a complete discussion about the elastic BIC. This work can be used as general framework to have BICs in arbitrary compact region based on the symmetry of the structure. This paper assesses several #path #loss #models, based on the #visibility through an #analytical# approach. The simple relationship valid in the #visible #spectrum can be extended to the #first #optical #window, while, at 1.550 μm, the effect of fog microphysics cannot be ignored. #Fog is definitively less challenging in the #mid-#IR (10.6 μm) even at very low visibility values (less than 0.5 km), which was not evident from #older #studies. Lower and upper bounds for the extinction coefficient are calculated and substituted into the #free-#space #optics (#FSO) link budget equation. The combined effect of the microphysics and of the accuracy of visibility measurements may result in large uncertainties on the maximum achievable #path #length. The latter is also influenced by the microclimate, as links are usually deployed in urban areas while visibility data are collected outside.
