?? Bringing Laughter to New Heights: Clean-Cut Comedy at the National Library! Last week, I had the amazing opportunity to perform clean-cut comedy in a space I never expected—our National Library! ?? Who knew that a place usually associated with silence and study could be filled with so much laughter and joy? ?? Why Clean-Cut Comedy? Clean-cut comedy challenges you to think creatively and deliver humor that connects with everyone—without relying on anything inappropriate. It’s all about making people laugh with clever observations, relatable situations, and a twist of surprise that keeps it light and fun for all audiences. The crowd was diverse, from young students to seniors, and the atmosphere was filled with good vibes and belly laughs. It was a powerful reminder that humor doesn’t need to push boundaries to make an impact. It just needs to resonate! ?? Comedy in Unlikely Places Performing in a library reminded me that humor truly has no limits. It’s a universal language that can bridge gaps, break the ice, and bring people together in unexpected ways. In a world that often feels divided, comedy offers a chance to connect on a deeper, more human level. I’m excited to continue bringing clean-cut comedy to different venues and demonstrating that humor can thrive in any environment. ?? Have you ever experienced comedy in an unconventional space? Or maybe you’ve been surprised by how humor popped up in an unlikely setting? Let me know in the comments! #Comedy #CleanHumor #StandUpComedy #NationalLibrary #PositiveVibes #CreativeChallenge #LaughterIsUniversal

Welcome to the comedic universe! Firstly, let's shine the spotlight on stand-up comedy. Picture it as the solo artist of comedy, delivering rib-tickling anecdotes and jokes that surprise you with belly-laugh inducing punchlines. Next, let's step into the realm of sketch comedy. It's the comedic equivalent of a sports team, with a tribe of performers bringing to life a variety of short, hilarious scenes. Lastly, let's explore the unpredictable territory of improvisational comedy. Consider it the joker in the pack, with performers creating comedic magic in the moment, sans script. So there you have it. Three distinct comedy styles, each with its unique flavor, each capable of tickling your funny bone. #StandUpComedy #SketchComedy #ImprovComedy

What I learned from a StandUp Comedy Show. In comedy, there is something called a callback which is a joke which refers to one previously told in the set. It is also known as an internal allusion, a literary device that helps give structure to the piece of writing. Callbacks are a subset of inside jokes which refer to something told in the set rather than to anything in general. You could adopt the same for copy. Repeat important messages. If you say something early in your content. Say it again in the middle, and also near the end. Repetition makes things stick.

Every sales person should do Stand Up comedy. After a 3 month workshop and 2 standup shows, I realize that standup comedy is the ultimate sell training. 1) Overcome rejection: many jokes won’t get laughs. Just move on to the next one. 2) Copy Copy Copy. Refining a joke is like refining an email. Write it, test it, re-write ir. Every single word counts. 3) Tonality and pauses are the ultimate key to get the punchline right. Sounds a lot like the key for a discovery call!

Comedy in your content is like chocolate-coating on a bad pill. I took a Stand-up Comedy course last year, and learned a ton. If you speak, market, or sell, just do it. You don't have to become a comedian, but people will be more willing to tolerate a dose of you. (This is me and the great comedian Joe King, shot by the founder of FunnyFest... check out funnyfest.com to learn about courses.)

Last week was my first ever stand-up comedy performance! Okay, so it wasn’t really a proper gig – it was the showcase that brought a nine week stand-up comedy course to an end, so it was just an audience of friends and family – but my word, what an experience it was! I took the course to learn more about writing comedy, but also to blow the cobwebs off my pitching skills (it’s been a few years) – and what more difficult pitch is there than, “Hey! I’m funny, listen to me!”? We were pretty much immediately thrown into the deep end, being tasked to write and perform two minutes of material each week from the very first session. The first few weeks were intensely tough and really forced me to break through anxiety and fear of embarrassment, but a wonderful teacher and amazingly supportive cohort soon helped me overcome that. It was by far one of the most personally challenging things I’ve done, but my god, the results were worth it. I learned so much about the art of stand-up and ways to generate material, but more importantly, I realised what I’m really capable of – something that can get lost when you’re just a cog in the machine. Will I do it again? Probably not, but who knows? ?? But it was, without a doubt, the best thing I’ve done for myself in a long time, and if you think you might benefit from it, I can’t recommend it highly enough. ————— Need a narrative eye over your project, or someone to bounce ideas off of? Audit is comedy - is that possible? ? ? I'm a huge comedy buff. ? Whether it's movies, sit-coms, or standups …I'm into all of it. ? I recently started incorporating my love of comedy into my LinkedIn posts because: ? - It amuses me ? - It motivates me to post each day ? - It makes a dry topic (audit) slightly interesting (or does it?) ? Here's what I'm doing: ? - Each post will include a new GIF or meme from some of my favorites. ? - I'll use that favorite for an entire week, then switch it each Monday. ? Recently I've used: ? - Seinfeld - The Office - Parks & Recreation ? I'm currently using Brooklyn 99. ? Most of the time I'll tie the visual to the topic in my post … ? But sometimes it'll be total nonsense just because I think it's funny. ? So, keep an eye out for the new theme next Monday ... And let me know if it's one of your favorites and why. ? ? P.S. What's your favorite comedy show of all time?

Comedy lives at the fringes. One easy and simple way to make each comedy script funnier in my experience is to push every element away from the centre: - Character - Scene - Dialogue - Tone If it’s boring dialogue, make it the most boring dialogue ever to have been penned. If they’re grumpy, make them the grumpiest character. If it’s cold outside, make it -25 in a freak blizzard. Even with tone, if it’s a fairly straight scene, why not make the tone and camera movements hugely dramatic? By pushing things to either end of the spectrum, it’s an easy way to create riper conditions for comedy. Trust me. Or don't, it's your life.
