Nothing new has been reported on the issue; it remains a recurring topic each year. I strongly advocate for an increase in NHS apprenticeships to encourage wider participation among current staff. Additionally, I propose raising the nursing grant to ￡12,000 annually and reducing the tuition fees for both domestic and international students but the same. UNC Health Wayne Partners with Wayne Community College to Tackle Nursing Shortage To help address North Carolina’s growing nursing shortage, UNC Health Wayne is funding a clinical nursing instructor at Wayne Community College for the next five years. This partnership strengthens a decades-long relationship, with 75-80% of the college’s nursing graduates joining UNC Health Wayne last year. The collaboration also includes a new apprenticeship program allowing licensed practical nurses to earn their registered nursing licenses while working. Tuition reimbursement makes this program a game-changer for the future of nursing. “This is a prime example of working hand-in-hand to meet the needs of the workforce and the community,” said Dr. Patricia Pfeiffer, Wayne Community College President.
