One of my biggest takeaways from recent projects is how important it is to take all design factors into account as early as possible. Anticipating common issues such as clashes in the cavity can avoid delays and unanticipated costs, however no element is built with absolute precision. This is where tolerance is crucial. Why does tolerance matter? ? Accommodating variations – no element is built with absolute precision. Tolerances allow for these slight deviations without compromising the stability of the structure. ? Simplifying installation – Tolerance gives site teams leeway to make adjustments if necessary. ? Managing thermal movement – Tolerances in support systems allows for natural expansion / contractions due to temperature changes. Let’s start building with precision and foresight.
