The complexities of environmental justice solutions: “Climate Justice Comes in Many Forms” by Senator Lisa Murkowski for U.S. Senate describes the disproportionate impacts of climate change on Alaska Native communities, focusing on King Cove, an Aleut village, facing severe climate-related challenges. The author highlights the longstanding need for a road connecting King Cove to Cold Bay’s airport but explains that it has faced opposition due to environmental protections for the Izembek National Wildlife Refuge. Rhode Island's Department of Environmental Management completes largest land acquisition in a decade, conserving more than 900 acres of forest through the purchase of Boy Scout property. The undeveloped parcel represents one of the last substantial unprotected landscapes in the state.
