June 8 is #GlobalWellnessDay (GWD)! Each year, #GWD is celebrated worldwide on the second Saturday of June to motivate individuals and the greater society to #livewell. According to Global Wellness Day (a non-profit organization), it's an international movement with the following overarching goals: ?To recognize the value of our lives ?To pause and think, even if it's for one day out of the year ?To be free from stressors of everyday life (and rid of bad habits) ?To make peace with ourselves ?To raise awareness about #livingwell and increase motivation — not just for today, but all year long GWD encourages people to implement seven simple practices, coined their "manifesto," to promote a full, wellness-rich life. Be sure to start small and gradually incorporate many or all of these good habits into your day: 1. Set aside time to walk for at least 60 minutes. 2. Drink more water. At least two liters per day is recommended. 3. Don't use plastic bottles — opt for your favorite reusable cup! 4. Eat healthy food. A balanced, plant-based diet of various fruits and vegetables will help fuel your body appropriately. 5. Do a good deed: How can you make someone's day? 6. Share a meal with your loved ones. It doesn't have to be fancy! Take the time to break bread and connect with those who are important to you. 7. Go to bed by 10 p.m. Experts suggest adults should sleep seven to nine hours per night. You as a wellness coach?! HAHA ok buddy. Out of adversity comes prosperity! I used to think, “Who do I think I am? I barely like working out, let alone sharing it with others.” That was my mentality when I thought wellness was just physical and cared too much about what others thought. When I signed up with BODI in November, I was not working full-time, the kids’ activity fees were due, and we were going through a mortgage renewal. I could have held on to my last $300 and put it elsewhere, but that’s what I had always done—sinking mentally deeper and going nowhere fast. I can admit, the first month and a half, I didn’t do the work or lean into the community. But during a particularly tough week, I made the decision to commit. I realized it wasn’t “work”—it was true “freedom.” Freedom from doubts that I wasn’t enough, that I didn’t have the time, or that this was just another “MLM.” Yes, I signed up straight as a partner, not because I thought of the business aspect but because it was the same cost. That action opened future doors for me. With BODI, I have the opportunity to work on my own wellness and possibly make an extra $200-$500 monthly by paying it forward. It only took me 26 years… I entered the wellness and fitness industry with one clear goal: to give back to those who shaped me into who I am today and to make wellness accessible! While ARVRA was founded three years ago, my journey began when I was four years old. Without realising it at the time, that moment set me on a path that’s defined my purpose ever since. My mission has been clear from the start, and my drive has only grown stronger over the years. Now, at 30, I’m proud to say that ARVRA is giving back to thousands of NHS staff, some of which looked after me. This hasn't?been a quick?win by any means, but gosh it was worth it personally?and professionally and my story has led our mission! In the past few weeks, @ARVRA Wellness has hosted five days of well-being events?across 7 trusts, where our team of experts delivered one-on-one sessions to their dedicated and often burnt-out employees,?which led to thousands of app downloads. The feedback has been INCREDIBLE so far. Here are my key takeaways: ?? If you know there's a need for what you're building (Even if people call you crazy) NEVER GIVE UP.? ?? Remember that your past self could never have imagined you'd get this far—so stop and celebrate your wins. ?? Having a purpose and a clear "why" is crucial—never lose sight of them.
