I'm thrilled to announce a groundbreaking partnership between Hackensack Meridian Health Meridian Health and Bernhard to bring clean, #renewableenergy to our 18 hospitals across New Jersey. This transformative initiative will install over 50,000 solar panels, the equivalent of 27 NFL football fields. This partnership is a significant step forward in our commitment to environmental #sustainability and reducing our #carbonfootprint. By harnessing the sun's power, we'll be able to significantly reduce our reliance on #fossilfuels, contributing to a healthier planet for generations to come. But the benefits extend far beyond environmental impact. This initiative will also: 1. Reduce our operating costs: The solar panels will generate significant cost savings, allowing us to reinvest those funds back into patient care and innovative technologies. 2. Enhance patient experience: By creating a more sustainable healthcare environment, we'll be able to provide our patients with a healthier and more comfortable experience. 3. Attract and retain top talent: Our commitment to sustainability will make HMH an even more attractive place to work for talented healthcare professionals who share our values. He pointed out that while the increasing demand for healthcare services is set to escalate carbon emissions, innovations in precision medicine and preventive care hold the potential to mitigate this impact. Jaana Halonen from the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) added a local perspective, noting that approximately 6% of Finland’s carbon emissions are attributed to the health and social care sectors.
