What's a rebill in LTL shipping? If you don't know... I guarantee you are paying way too much for your LTL freight! We have lots of customers who want to know what a rebill is... they say they have never seen one before. If you ship freight and have never had a rebill either you are perfect or you are being charged too much. One of these things is impossible... you figure out which one. In the shipping business, people think... I was quoted $X for my shipment to go from Point A to Point B and that's all I should have to pay. That would be true if your quote is perfect with all the information that carrier needs to pick-up and deliver it with no added services and assuming the weight and dimensions are correct. Like anything, a quote is only as good as the information that is put into it... so if your weight or dimensions are wrong you will see a rebill. If there are services on your shipment that were not quoted, you will see a rebill. Or should I say... you SHOULD see a rebill. If you've used a broker or a third party to book your shipments or to help you with shipping in the past and you have never seen a rebill then there's one answer to this why you've neve seen a rebill... you are paying too much. I'm sure it is nice to never see a rebill. Wouldn't it be nice if #InXpress308 was charging you higher prices and didn't have to send rebills? Nice for who? Nice for us for sure!!! ?? Our margins are tight. If we receive a rebill on one of your shipments - we are going to pass it along to you with a nominal fee of $10 (for rebills less than $100) and $20 (for rebills that are more than $100). This allows us to dig into the rebill and determine for you if it is correct and if it isn't correct - we will initiate a DISPUTE for the additional charges with the carrier. Here's one where we were only charged $50 extra. In this case our customer was charged $60. A liftgate was ordered so that was included in the quote, but "inside delivery" was not and this was reweighed by R&L from 600# to 705#. I would expect this to usually be a much much higher rebill... but in this case with the carrier being R&L, who isn't going to hit you over the head or hold you hostage for more money... only charged $50.
