There are some quick routes to maintain and restore healthy mental balance. In 2020 over the pandemic, I coined them - Low Hanging Fruits to Better Mental Health. One of these low hanging fruits is….laughter. Laughter diffuses tension by treating the body to internal stress relief with endorphins produced in the brain when we laugh. Endorphins fight pain, cause the muscles to relax and grants us relief making us feel good then opening up a natural route to happiness. If you're not focusing on how you breathe, your mental health could suffer. Here are my two things to do and one thing you absolutely don't want to do for your breath work to become mentally healthy. First, breathe into your belly. Four seconds in and seven seconds out. Practice. Now we don't often think of breathing when we first start so it actually feels worse. And this is great. This means that you're about to learn something new so just keep on going with that practice. Now number three, the one thing you really don't want to do is breathe into your chest and raise your shoulders as you do it. Now this is a great way to fire yourself up and to possibly kickstart anxiety and panic.
