?? Celebrating a Major Milestone in Clean Energy Collaboration! ??
Representatives from ten states—Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont—have come together to coordinate transmission grid expansion efforts with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).
On July 9, 2024, these states signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to formalize their collaboration, accelerating the siting and permitting of regional and interregional transmission facilities, including both onshore and offshore options. This partnership is essential for the Eastern Seaboard to meet clean energy goals cost-effectively.
The MOU highlights:
? Shared transmission priorities for substantial benefits.
? Federal support for offshore wind and clean energy objectives.
? Common technical standards to reduce costs and ensure compatibility.
Signatories of this exciting MOU include: Katie Scharf Dykes, Commissioner, CT Department of Energy and Environmental Protection; Dayna Cobb, Director, Division of Climate, Coastal, and Energy, Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control; Dan Burgess, Director, Maine Governor's Energy Office; Paul Pinsky, Director, Maryland Energy Administration; Rebecca L Tepper, Secretary, Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs; Jared Chicoine, Commissioner, New Hampshire Department of Energy; Christine Guhl-Sadovy, President, New Jersey Board of Public Utilities; Rory M. Christian, Chair and Chief Executive Officer, New York Public Service Commission; Doreen Harris, President and CEO, NYSERDA; Chris Kearns Acting Commissioner, Rhode Island Office of Energy Resources, and; June Tierney, Commissioner, PUBLIC SERVICE, VERMONT DEPARTMENT OF.
