US GoM FID Alert! bp has taken FID at its Kaskida development in the US Gulf of Mexico. This will be the Major's 6th hub in the region, with the platform expected to produce 80,000 bbl/d from 6 wells in Phase One. This phase has 275 MMboe of recoverable resource with first oil anticipated in 2029. “Technology has and will continue to play a pivotal role in propelling Kaskida from discovery to production. Together with the other resources we have in the Paleogene, we expect it to prove to be a world-class development. Today is a critical step in realizing its potential.” said Gordon Birrell, bp’s EVP of production and operations. This is bp’s first 20k development, requiring well equipment rated up to 20,000 psi. Advancements in 20k drilling technology, seismic imaging, and regional expertise enable bp to develop Kaskida, as well as the Tiber project (FID expected in 2025). bp’s objective is to unlock 10 bnboe in-place from its Paleogene discoveries.

A delegation from Asia visited BICO Drilling Tools to explore advancements in drilling technology. During the visit, BICO showcased its latest tools and innovations designed to enhance drilling efficiency and adapt to complex geological conditions.?The presentation emphasized cutting-edge solutions that align with operational needs in regions with challenging formations. This collaboration highlights a shared focus on technological progress in the energy sector, aiming to optimize performance and resource extraction capabilities. BICO PLMs and Engineering team members Oghogho Dixon, Aref Al Ali, and Edicson Mendoza were instrumental during the presentation.

M-I SLB Fluids recently received significant recognition from one of our customer in Indonesia for successfully drilling the exploration high temperature high pressure (HTHP) well at Mahakam sea. The well was drilled using a synthetic-based mud system, with a drilling fluid density of 18.6 ppg, and a maximum static temperature reaching 364°F. This achievement highlights M-I SLB Fluids' ability to deliver superior fluid technology for operations in Indonesia, specifically tailored to HTHP conditions. The success of this project serves as a strong reference for M-I SLB Fluids, positioning them as a reliable partner for future HTHP challenges across various fields in Indonesia.

DNO ASA has entered into an agreement with OKEA ASA to farm into a 10% interest in PL1119 containing the Mistral prospect. In exchange, OKEA will pick up a 10% interest in PL1109 containing the Horatio prospect. https://lnkd.in/difyBrXa

The beginning of the next wave of project sanctions that continue to unlock the production potential of the Paleogene, Kaskida was a 2006 discovery with reservoir pressures beyond the technology of the day. BP is also anticipating the sanction of its 2009 discovery Tiber in 2025. What this also does is extend the infrastructure of the Gulf of Mexico as Kaskida will require a new hub to bring into production. With infrastructure in place, the economic threshold for discovery becomes much lower and prospects that previously would have been too small to drill can become attractive targets for a sub-sea tieback development once ullage becomes available on the hub. #oil #GOM #bp #paleogene #tertiary #20K #kaskida https://lnkd.in/g67keYaV

Recently, a delegation of over 30 representatives from Tarim Oilfield Company visited INVT, with the purpose to strengthen exchanges in the field of energy, actively explore the prospects of cooperation, and inject new vitality into the development of both sides. During the visit, the representatives of Tarim Oilfield carefully observed INVT exhibition hall and laboratories, gained an in-depth understanding of its innovative solutions in the whole petroleum process, and conducted in-depth discussions on a number of topics. INVT achievements in the oil industry are well-recognized and received high praise from the Tarim Oilfield representatives. Both parties are excited about future cooperation.
