The village of Bergen will have $1.26 million from the state to use for the replacement of a four-decades-old substation, thanks to an announcement Wednesday from the Empire State Development. The money came from an award of nearly $25 million ESD announced that will improve five locations under the Focused Attraction of Shovel-Ready Tracts New York grant program. For Bergen, the $1.26 million will also improve distribution lines, which will increase capacity to serve anticipated load growth. These upgrades will allow Apple Tree Acres Corporate Park to further develop an additional 47 shovel ready acres intended for future manufacturing.
