Embracing 2024 with joy and genuine optimism, I'm delighted to welcome you to the new year with an open heart, deeper wisdom, and renewed strength. This newsletter, simmering since January, serves as a vessel to share the profound shifts within me over the past few years and their transformative impact on Gloetry. In this newsletter, I am thrilled to share the reimagined Gloetry with you, shaped by our collective growth.?With this expansion, my aspiration is to offer you and your communities even more intentional, strategic, and compassionate support. ---- After seven years of collaborating with schools to nurture the emotional well-being of their BIPOC communities, we observed a recurring pattern: despite the safe havens our circles provided, individuals returned to environments perpetuating harm. This led us to question: What might be possible if we could transform entire environments using circle philosophy as a foundational framework? In New York City, Gloetry partnered with a performing arts non-profit for a strategic culture transformation journey. Working closely with their executive team, we assessed their current culture, aligned goals, and identified underlying factors influencing staff behavior in hopes to create more unity, improve communication processes, and increase productivity. This bold journey requires commitment and patience for meaningful change to take root. Similarly, in Los Angeles, Gloetry collaborated with a charter school aiming to enhance belonging and facilitate compassionate student-teacher interactions. Recognizing the importance of a supportive climate for academic success, the school engaged us to strengthen their advisory program through circle practice. This aligns with their broader vision of transforming the educational landscape to prioritize trust, connection, and safety. Read our current newsletter to learn more! ?? How to create an inclusive environment where every individual feels valued, respected, and empowered? How can inclusion and diversity be harnessed as drivers of creativity, innovation, and sustainable growth within organisations? ??In collaboration with our expert partner BPI Learn, we held two transformative Next Stage Capacity-Building Workshops on Inclusion and Leadership over the past month, centred around this crucial topic. ?We were delighted to welcome participants representing 16 opera houses from 11 countries. Together, they discussed innovative initiatives and best practices aimed at breaking down barriers and overcoming challenges in their respective organisations, drawing on their valuable interactions with industry experts Hannah Griffiths, Tobiasz Sebastian Berg, and Vania Cauzillo.? ??Together with the BPI Team, we commit to continuing the process of engaging members of our network to create #SocialImpact and foster a more #InclusiveEnvironment. ?? How we see it matters:

Power isn’t a finite resource that needs to be controlled; it’s a tool that can be shared to empower others without losing any of our own. When we rethink how we approach power with children, we can help them develop a sense of autonomy and responsibility. By offering choices, respecting boundaries, and fostering collaboration, we can shift from power struggles to power partnerships. Let’s see children differently and, in turn, see different, empowered children.

Here’s one key takeaway that hit me and Gosia Jaros-White hard as we headed back home after attending the National Summer Learning Association Summit this week:?there’s no time for despair or fear.?The challenges our kids face are real, but so is our collective power to overcome them. ? Yup, it’s time to exercise radical collaboration.?We must mobilize passionately, tearing down silos and working together to create a future where all kids—regardless of their circumstances—can thrive. ? The positive energy at the summit was undeniable. For three days leaders, educators, policymakers, and advocates came together with one mission: to ensure every child has access to learning, opportunities, and fun. ? When we collaborate boldly and with purpose, we can eliminate barriers and inspire lasting change. It starts with showing up, speaking out, and taking action for the kids who need us the most.
