I recently read an article about Dave Brailsford, the British Cycling coach, and learned about a simple but powerful idea called "Marginal Gains." Before 2003, British cyclists had never won an Olympic medal, and the team struggled so much that even cycling brands didn’t want their logos on their bikes. In 2003, Dave Brailsford became their coach and introduced a new method. He focused on improving every area of cycling by just 1%. This included small changes like making seats more comfortable, improving bike handling, and upgrading their staying and training facilities. These small improvements didn’t seem like much on their own, but over time, they added up. From 2003 to 2017, the team achieved amazing results. They won 178 World Championships, 5 Tour de France titles, and several Olympic medals. It was shocking to see how these tiny, daily improvements made such a big difference. What I learned from this is simple: a 1% improvement might not seem like a lot at first, but when done consistently over time, it can lead to big changes. Small steps, done daily, can create huge results. What do you think about this idea? #MarginalGains #ContinuousImprovement #SmallStepsBigResults #SuccessMindset #1PercentBetter

On the latest "Business of Cycling" Podcast Host Wyatt Wees talks with my long-time Client and the Co-Founder of the GFNY World cycling marathon series, Ulrich Fluhme. This is a fantastic listen for anyone in the Endurance Sports Race/Event Business, but particularly for Race/Event Founders - or any Business Founder for that matter! These races/events often start out, rather small - even ones like GFNY, that have grown massively into a world-wide phenomenon. They are, often at start-up - passion-plays for Founders. There are HUGE risks in the beginning! Like Uli and his wife Lidia Fluhme, many Founders of races/events, leave good high-paying jobs/careers, for the total uncertainty, of the Race/Event Business! But they have persevered, and as noted built a substantial and very successful business and brand in the Endurance Sports Race/Event Business! #running #cycling #triathlon #endurancesports #races #events #business #startup #founders #eventmanagers #eventorganizers #racedirectors

If you’ve read my post from yesterday, I bet you’re on tenterhooks waiting for my musings on marginal gains… The theory of marginal gains was initially implemented in the British Cycling team for the Olympics in 2004 - the idea being that small changes can add up to big results. Think heating the seat for a toasty bum before a bike race and you get the idea. Fast forward to the Olympics in 2008, and Team GB won 60% of the cycling gold medals - coincidence? From biking to business, if you break down everything that goes into running a business, and can improve each of those aspects by even just 1%, then it can really add up over time. Plus, as they say, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. You know what they say...every day's a school day. I'd love to know if anyone actively uses a marginal gains calculator or the theory in general and the impact it's had on your business... #MarginalGains #BusinessGrowth #GrowthMindset #BusinessLeaders #SmallBusinesses

??♂??? **From Triathlon Hero to Tour de France Aspirant: Kristian Blummenfelt's Bold Dream That Almost Was** This summer, the triathlon community was abuzz when the legendary Kristian Blummenfelt announced his daring intent to switch gears from triathlon to professional road cycling, aiming to dominate no less than the Tour de France. A powerhouse in triathlon, his declaration was bold and took everyone by surprise, stirring excitement and debate among fans and athletes alike. Having watched athletes transition between sports, I've seen the thrill and challenge it brings—not just to the athletes but to us, the spectators and supporters. It makes you wonder, what drives a top-tier athlete to consider such a leap? And what does it take to succeed in a completely different sport at the highest level? ?? What do you think are the biggest challenges athletes face when switching to a completely different sport? Could this have been a new era for Kristian and cycling? Or is the specialization necessary in sports like cycling too steep a mountain to climb, even for a triathlon legend? Join the debate below! ?? #Triathlon #Cycling #KristianBlummenfelt #SportsCareer #AthleteTransitions #TourdeFrance Discover more tips, insights, and resources by visiting our site at https://lnkd.in/gpANDEuy
