We’re proud to announce that we’re supporting Love Food Hate Waste’s - Food Waste Action Week campaign. This year, the UK’s biggest annual food waste reduction campaign is encouraging you to, “Choose What You’ll Use” by buying your fruit and vegetables loose instead of packaged. Research from Love Food Hate Waste has shown that we could reduce food waste by 60,000 tonnes just by buying loose fruit and veg! Sometimes we are in the mood for a huge potato, and sometimes we just need one carrot for our spag bol. Why let the rest go to waste? Choose loose and you don’t have to. This week is important - it's the fourth Food Waste Action Week, with the focus this year on being "choose what you'll use". This means selling and buying whole fruit and veg loose, to avoid the waste from bulk purchases that simply cannot be consumed quick enough before the food starts to decompose. In our business, we see first hand how much surplus food and waste food is out there and wholeheartedly support this campaign. And where waste can't be avoided, we're ready to do our bit and help re-use it to at least avoid landfill. #FoodWasteActionWeek #ChooseWhatYoullUse https://lnkd.in/e6R9zwYU

You’ve probably come across many statistics about food waste, but here’s one of the most disturbing: Roughly 1.3 billion tonnes of food is wasted yearly — enough to feed 3 billion people. While each of us can contribute to reducing food waste, businesses and organizations have an even greater responsibility. ?? In 2023, Bolt Food users globally saved 80 tonnes of food from becoming waste. This number is scary big, that's why food delivery companies have their responsibility in choosing the right packaging and offer these for their restaurant partners. Every company should be aiming towards reducing their carbon footprint and guide and assist their partners in this effort. We help them providing these materials so together we can make an even bigger impact on our environment. #Sustainability #FoodWaste #EcoFriendly

In today’s episode, Jayne Gallagher is in conversation with Nerida Kelton FAIP the Vice President Sustainability & Save Food, for the WPO World Packaging Organisation and the Executive Director for the Australian Institute of Packaging (AIP).
