Netflix Says The Jake Paul Vs. Mike Tyson Fight Was ‘The Most-Streamed Sporting Event Ever’: Netflix reports its live-streamed Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson boxing match averaged a record 108 million viewers globally, making it the “most-streamed sporting event ever.” The fight had 65 million concurrent streams, with 38 million from US households. The women’s Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano fight also broke the US record for most-watched professional women’s sports event with 47 million average viewers. Despite the high viewership, concerns remain about Netflix’s ability to handle large live audiences ahead of streaming two NFL games on Christmas Day, including a Beyoncé halftime show, and taking over WWE’s Monday Night Raw next year. The successful boxing stream highlights Netflix’s push into live sports streaming. ???? Read the full story: https://lnkd.in/gWSnBSEc #InfluencerMarketing #Influencer #Netflix #JakePaul #MikeTyson

Jake Paul & Mike Tyson changed boxing forever. The purists may not like it, I may not like it, but we may have to come to terms with it - the way we consume sports and entertainment are changing. And like all competitive environments.. its adapt or die. What set the fight apart was Netflix’s distribution model. By streaming the event free to its 282 million subscribers, Netflix disrupted the traditional pay-per-view system, prioritising reach over revenue. Key results: - 90,000 attendees packed AT&T Stadium in Dallas. - Performances by Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders. - A $2M VIP package sold by Jake Paul’s promotion team. - Sportsbooks broke records in betting volumes. It marked a bold move by Netflix into live sports, building on deals like its $150M investment in NFL Christmas games and exclusive rights to WWE. With its thriving ad-supported tier, Netflix redefined how sports are delivered and consumed. Amazon and Apple have are also having crack at sports on their respective platforms. The hunt for marketshare is heating up. Netflix execs were also present at UFC309 the following night, and the UFC expects Netflix will be 'at the table' for negotiations when their ESPN contract is up late 2025. Interesting. #SportsMedia #Streaming #Boxing #JakePaul #MikeTyson #Netflix

Tyson v Paul may have ended in an anticlimax, but the real victory was for women in boxing, with millions in combined earnings and pay-per-view buys. (I need to see Taylor v Serrano 3.. without the headbutts) The Streaming Shift.. Netflix’s recent push into live events, like WWE specials and their "Game Day" NFL coverage, signals a shake-up. If they expand further into broadcasting live sports, it could massively challenge traditional pay-per-view by offering subscribers a seamless way to watch live sports alongside their favourite shows. Why This Matters.. Platforms like Netflix entering the live sports space could disrupt the PPV model with more affordable, bundled options that appeal to a wider audience. With every shake-up comes opportunity.. Let’s see what that means for my friends in that space, especially the voice acting community. Maybe it’s time to start commentating ?????? This shift could redefine how we watch sports, paving the way for diverse headliners and make high-profile / unconventional events even more accessible. Thoughts? (Ps Serrano has so much heart ????)

Netflix added 19M subscribers in Q4... and I'm one of them when I finally decided to subscribe to ensure my weekly appointment viewing of WWE Raw is uninterrupted. Given the sizeable viewership (65M concurrent streams) of its first live sporting event - the Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson "fight" (moreso spectacle) - and strong ratings for its two NFL Christmas Day games (reached 65M viewers in total), I wonder what took so long for the streaming service to take the plunge into live sports. I still recall Netflix leaders not long ago repeating the refrain they're not interested in live sports. Live sport helped Netflix grow net income to US$1.9B in the quarter. Live sport is the greatest audience aggregator in the world. That combined with the live event industry's exponential growth post-pandemic, courtesy of experience-craving consumers, make broadcasting live sporting events a wise investment. Now that Netflix has made its foray into major live sports, we'll soon see the service enter soccer when it broadcasts in the U.S. the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2027 and 2031 in English and Spanish. I'm curious to see what other properties it pursues next. Cricket, Auto Racing, Golf, Tennis, MMA?....All are global sports, engage diverse audiences, have big stars and offer great stories to tell - Netflix's essence. #streaming #sportsmedia #broadcastrights

#TejasTexting The Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul fight isn't just a boxing match; it’s a carefully orchestrated media event designed to generate massive profits. While Tyson, a legend in the sport, has been pulled into this narrative, the fight's real winners are the agencies, sponsors, and streaming platforms like Netflix. They’ve capitalized on the hype, turning the event into a money machine, reportedly earning tens of millions in pay-per-view and promotional deals. This highlights how boxing is shifting from athleticism to entertainment, with influencers like Paul shaping its future. Tyson’s legacy, however, adds complexity, does this fight honor or exploit his name? It's worth asking: is the sport losing its essence amidst such commercial ventures? #Boxing #MikeTyson #JakePaul #SportsMarketing #MediaStunt #LegacyVsHype #Netflix #SportsBusiness

Netflix just wrapped up an exhilarating debut this weekend in live boxing, featuring Mike Tyson against Jake Paul. This record-breaking event saw 60 million households tuning in for the free stream. In a major strategic shift, Netflix, a leader in the streaming industry, has just doven into live sports broadcasting. This move marks a significant shift from its earlier stance of avoiding live sports in favor of “binge-watchable” content. The change began in 2024, with Netflix's $5 billion agreement to air WWE's Raw brand starting in 2025. They’re also further expanding with a three-year deal to broadcast NFL Christmas Day games, paying $150 million for two games in 2024. This strategy is already yielding returns as Netflix has sold all ad spots well ahead of the broadcasts, indicating a more lucrative approach into this new territory. It’s certainly exciting to see Netflix’s ambitions dominating the live sports coverage! Esquire Group Inc. https://lnkd.in/e2vC-J23

Is #Netflix ready to stream Live sports like IPL? ?? Last week Netflix just dropped a bombshell in the live sports world. They pulled off the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson boxing event at AT&T Stadium, and oh boy, it was a big deal. 60 million households tuning in kinda big. It even peaked at 65 million concurrent streams—yeah, that’s crazy. But hold up, the site also crashed for a bit. So… does this mean Netflix is ready to stream something as epic as IPL? Let’s dig in. Netflix knows how to make money.?? First off, that fight? It wasn’t just about punching faces, it was also punching numbers. Netflix smashed Texas combat sports records, raking in a jaw-dropping $18 million at the gate. With tickets averaging $304, it blew past even the Canelo álvarez vs. Billy Joe Saunders fight. And let’s not forget the fighter payouts—Jake Paul made a sweet $40 million, and Mike Tyson? A cool $20 million. The takeaway? Netflix’s exclusive streaming rights = serious cash flow. The tech struggles are real.?? But here’s the thing. All that glitz came with a glitch—literally. The site couldn’t handle the traffic and temporarily went down. Now, imagine that happening during an IPL final when hundreds of millions of people are glued to their screens. Yeah, disaster waiting to happen. Netflix needs to beef up its infrastructure big time before even thinking about cricket’s holy grail. Why IPL is a whole different ball game??? Streaming IPL isn’t like streaming a movie or even a boxing match. We’re talking weeks of matches, unpredictable rain delays, and cricket’s knack for going into super over mode just when you think it’s all done. Platforms like Disney+ Hotstar have been doing this for years and have the tech to back it up. Netflix? Not so much. Yet. What’s coming next? ?? Netflix isn’t just dabbling in live sports for fun. They’ve already locked in deals to stream WWE’s RAW starting January 2025 for the next 10 years. (Yep, WWE fans, it’s happening!) But, let’s be real—IPL is a whole different beast. It’s cricket, it’s passion, it’s life for millions. So, Netflix + IPL??? If Netflix decides to go all-in, it’ll be interesting, no doubt. But are they ready? Only time will tell. The Paul-Tyson fight was a big flex, but it also showed they’ve got some work to do. What About You? Would you watch IPL on Netflix? #ipl2025auction #IPL2025 #MikeTysonvsJakePaul #netflixdown
