Today let’s have a closer look at the countries where the cultural preference is more on individual well-being and personal growth rather than socially expected achievement. Below you will find some examples: 1.????Denmark and Sweden: Known for their strong focus on work-life balance, well-being and equality. The Danish concept of "hygge" emphasizes quality of life, comfort, and contentment. The Swedish concept of "lagom" ("just the right amount") reflects a balanced approach to life: social welfare, personal growth, and time spent with family and in nature. ? 2.????Netherlands: The Netherlands values work-life balance and personal happiness. Dutch culture encourages part-time work and flexible schedules, allowing individuals to pursue personal interests and maintain a balance between work and personal life. 3.????New Zealand: New Zealanders, or "Kiwis," prioritize a strong connection to nature. The culture values personal fulfillment, sense of community, and a balanced approach to work and life. Outdoor activities and leisure time (individually and in a group) are highly valued. ? 4.????Costa Rica: Costa Rica is known for its "pura vida" lifestyle, which emphasizes simplicity, happiness, and a stress-free approach to life. The culture prioritizes well-being, family, and community over material success and career achievement. ? 5.????Canada: In many parts of Canada, there is a strong emphasis on work-life balance and personal well-being. Canadian culture values diversity, inclusivity, and the pursuit of individual passions and interests. There is a significant focus on social support systems and community well-being. These cultures demonstrate that success and fulfillment can be measured in ways that go beyond traditional achievements. What about Slovenia? What about other countries? Do share your opinions below. ?? Decoding Danish Work Culture: What I Learned Moving to Denmark brought its share of surprises, especially in the workplace. Danish work culture is unique, and adapting to it has been a rewarding journey. Here's what I've learned: ?? Flat Hierarchies: In Denmark, the workplace is less about titles and more about collaboration. Everyone's input is valued, which fosters a sense of equality and open communication. ?? Work-Life Balance: Danes take work-life balance seriously. It's not just a concept but a practice. Leaving the office on time is the norm, not the exception, allowing for a healthy personal life. ?? Efficiency in Work: The workday might be shorter, but it's highly efficient. There's a strong focus on productivity during work hours, so there's less need for overtime. ?? Informal Atmosphere: The work environment is casual and friendly, which took some getting used to. It creates a comfortable space for creative thinking and innovation. ?? Social Trust: There's a high level of trust in the workplace. This trust means more autonomy in your role and less micromanagement. Adapting to these aspects of Danish work culture has not only enhanced my professional life but also my well-being. If you're an expat in Denmark struggling to adjust, or planning to move here, let's connect! I can share more insights and help you navigate this new and exciting work environment. . . ?? Over the past six months, we've spoken to a number of expats about their experience of moving to Denmark. Their backgrounds and situations are very different, but what they have in common is that they came to Denmark as either high-level managers or specialists/researchers. In other words, they have moved to Denmark for career reasons. ? The vast majority of them have settled into their new work environment and express great satisfaction with the onboarding process at work. ? To a much greater extent, factors outside the workplace have a negative influence on life as an expat in Denmark. As several expats said, Danes are extremely welcoming, kind and helpful during working hours, but outside working hours, Danes are quick to go home to themselves and their own communities. Most expats we spoke to about life in Denmark have experienced loneliness and feel isolated at some point in the beginning of their stay. Many accompanying partners express the same feeling. ? Figures from the Expat Insider 2023 survey support that we in Denmark are good at being welcoming in the workplace, but they also confirm the challenges after working hours. In the “Ease of Settling In” section, Denmark is ranked 51 out of 53 countries. ? We must be able to do significantly better. In Settle in Denmark, we have customized programs to make expats feel at home from the start outside of working hours. #SettleinDenmark #SecureYourExpatInvestment #EmployerBranding #FeelWelcome

? OFFICE LIFE IN FRANCE ... ?? Expatriates arriving in France often critique some of our work habits and management styles: rigid hierarchies, flexible working hours, and the proliferation of unproductive meetings are frequently mentioned. ?? But what do they appreciate despite these challenges? Social protection and the emphasis on health are aspects they value, along with a certain informality in relationships between colleagues. ??? They also enjoy the conviviality of shared lunches, whether at the company cafeteria, which is often praised for its quality, or at nearby restaurants using meal vouchers. They quickly develop a taste for coffee breaks and drinks shared on terraces after work. ?? The friendliness among colleagues is another aspect often highlighted. In France, professional relationships often extend beyond the confines of the workplace. Informal discussions, friendly exchanges, and shared moments of relaxation help create a warmer and more collaborative work environment. This culture of social connection at work not only enhances well-being but also fosters team cohesion. ?? Moreover, the efforts many companies make to invest in the quality of life at work do not go unnoticed. ? Do you have expatriate colleagues? Have they shared their pleasant surprises with you after spending a few weeks or months among you? ?? Are you arriving in France or planning to arrive soon for a new position as an expatriate? Canada to New Zealand: Workplace Culture Shock ?? Embarking on a professional journey from Canada to New Zealand has been an exhilarating adventure, not only in terms of the breathtaking landscapes but also in navigating the nuances of workplace culture. I wanted to share the unique aspects of Kiwi work life. Work-Life Blend: A Kiwi Way of Living ?? Work-life balance in New Zealand is like a whole new ball game! ?? The Kiwi lifestyle is all about soaking in those beautiful surroundings and making quality time for the fam. And get this – flexible work arrangements aren't just a cool perk; they're woven into the Kiwi cultural threads. It's like they've mastered the art of chill and hustle simultaneously. Hierarchical Structures vs. Collaborative Dynamics ?? let's talk office vibes. Transitioning from the typical hierarchy to a more collaborative setup is seriously a breath of fresh air. The whole "open-door policy" thing? It's not just a saying. Ideas bounce around like ping pong balls, and everyone's input is gold. It's like being part of a brainstorming party where every voice gets a turn on the mic. Team Spirit: The Power of "We" Over "I" ?? Kiwi workplaces are all about the power of "We" over "I". ?? Team spirit is the secret sauce. Projects are like potluck dinners; everyone brings something to the table. There's this collective responsibility vibe that makes you feel like you're part of a work family with shared goals. As I navigate this Kiwi work adventure, it's clear – the workplace culture shock is real, but it's the good kind of shock. Mixing the Canadian warmth with Kiwi hospitality has created a unique blend that makes work feel like, well, anything but work. #WorkLifeDownUnder #KiwiWorkLife #OfficeCultureShock #WorkLifeBlend #FlexibilityInNZ #CulturalShift #CanadianAbroad #GlobalWorkExperience #WorkAbroadLife #CanadianInNZ #CulturalExchange #WorkLifeBalanceNZ #OfficeAdventures #InternationalWorkExperience #KiwiProfessionalLife #workingholiday #workingholidayvisa #workingabroad #newzealandimmigration

Smiling with Leandro Baptista about a life without compromise where you don't have to choose between a fulfilling career and a fulfilling lifestyle ??♂? That's the direction in which Lithuania is balancing quite in the middle (between work & life). Looking globally work life balance factor this year ranks as high on talent priority lists as salary, far ahead of any other category (according to WorkMonitor - 35K respondents, more than 30 countries). This trend has been growing for several years, but this year for the first time equalized with wages. Future Place Leadership states that work-life balance takes the lead as the main driver for deciding to live in another country.
