All of us are capable of greatness and some of us even achieve greatness. For most athletes, the Olympics is the epitome of greatness and we were thrilled to celebrate a remarkable achievement when one of our fellow villagers, Toby Roberts, won gold at the Olympics, a feat that few can even imagine, let alone accomplish. This incredible victory is a testament to what can be achieved through dedication, resilience, and an unrelenting pursuit of one's goals. As we reflect on Toby’s journey, as a community, I can't help but see parallels in the business world. Success in business, much like in sports, requires a vision, a commitment to excellence, and the courage to push beyond boundaries. Whether you're striving to grow your business, land a new client, or innovate within your industry, the mindset of an Olympic champion can inspire us all. ? Dedication: Just as Toby has dedicated years of training to reach the pinnacle of his sport, we too must be committed to continuous improvement in our businesses. It's the day-to-day effort that sets the foundation for big wins. ? Resilience: The road to Olympic gold is paved with challenges, setbacks, and moments of doubt. In business, resilience is equally critical. The ability to bounce back from failures, learn from mistakes, and keep moving forward is what distinguishes the best from the rest. ? Vision: Olympians have a clear vision of where they want to go, and they let nothing stand in their way. In business, a strong vision gives us direction and purpose, guiding our decisions and actions toward long-term success. Taking a moment to draw inspiration from this incredible achievement can help us pursue our own version of greatness. Whether on the field or in the boardroom, greatness is within reach for those of us who dare to pursue it. Congratulations to Toby —a true champion and a reminder that with hard work and determination, anything is possible. #Inspiration #Leadership #BusinessSuccess #OlympicGold #Greatness

In the past few weeks, we’ve witnessed the world’s best athletes compete. Each embodies years of sacrifice, putting blood, sweat, and tears into grueling training just to reach the Olympic dream. While most went home with lessons, some walked away with bronze, some with silver, and a few earned gold. But now that the Olympic season has come to an end, we’re left with a question: What’s next? Reaching a goal or a dream doesn’t mean it’s the end of the journey. Have you ever achieved a goal and felt like you didn’t know what to do next? Or failed to reach a goal and felt like the world was against you? The lesson we can take from the Olympians? Perseverance. Earning a medal doesn’t guarantee a life free from challenges. Even the greatest champions continue to face setbacks. As Michael Phelps, the most decorated Olympian in history, once said, "There will be obstacles. There will be doubters. There will be mistakes. But with hard work, there are no limits." If the best of the best never stop striving for greatness, why should you? #growth #enterpreneur #business #content

The 2024 Summer Olympics will wrap up this weekend. Have you been watching? I've watched more events than I have for any previous Olympics, and I've been awed by the talent and skill on display. I've also been touched by the stories of what some of these Olympians have overcome just to make the competition, as well as the wonderful displays of sportsmanship. These athletes are the best in the world at what they do, and I've thought about what they can teach us even if we never take to a court, field, pool or course in our professional work. Here are some Olympic lessons for all of us: -Focus on what really matters -Work in your strengths -Dig deep - you may need determination, perseverance and grit to succeed -Practice and repetition hone your skills -Don't let a setback define or defeat you -Find a good coach -Don't rest on your laurels - strive for continuous improvement -Define and envision what success looks like -Recognize that even a minor improvement (as in a millisecond) can change your outcome -Be a good sport, and give praise to those who earn it -Relentlessly pursue excellence -Don't expect anything to be given to you. Earn your crown and wear it.

"Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence." - Calvin Coolidge With the Olympic flame burning bright in Paris, Coolidge's words ring especially true as we watch athletes who've dedicated years to their craft compete on the world stage. These Olympians embody the spirit of pressing on. Their journey to Paris wasn't paved with constant victories, but with daily commitments to show up, train, and improve - even when no one was watching. Think about your own goals. How often have you been tempted to throw in the towel, only to find that breakthrough was just around the corner? ?? Like these athletes, our success isn't always about grand gestures, but about the steady, relentless pursuit of excellence. This week, let's channel that Olympic spirit in our own lives and work. Remember, every gold medal performance is built on countless hours of persistence. Here are three Olympic-inspired ways to boost your persistence: 1?? Set a personal record. Choose one task and aim to do it better than ever before. 2?? Create your training schedule. Map out small, daily actions that move you toward your bigger goals. 3?? Visualize success. Take a cue from athletes and spend a few minutes each day imagining achieving your objectives. What will you persist in this week? Remember, your own 'gold medal' moment might be closer than you think. Have a great week. #LearnLeadChange #Leadership #Coaching #MondayMotivation #Paris2024

From Setbacks to Gold: The Olympic Journey of Hidilyn Diaz and the Power of Process Improvement In 2008, a 17-year-old Hidilyn Diaz took her first steps onto the Olympic stage, driven by raw talent and lofty dreams. Her journey, however, was just beginning. 2008: Diaz finished 10th, but this was only the start of her Olympic odyssey. 2012: Despite a setback where she did not finish, Diaz chose resilience over defeat. She took a step back to analyze her performance, refining her technique and rebuilding her training regimen from the ground up. 2016: Her dedication paid off as she clinched the silver medal, marking the Philippines' first Olympic medal in 20 years. This success was a direct result of her relentless focus on process improvement. 2020: Diaz reached new heights with a gold medal, setting an Olympic record and bringing the Philippines its first-ever Olympic gold. Her commitment to perfecting every aspect of her craft transformed weaknesses into strengths and setbacks into comebacks. 2024: Building on Diaz's legacy, Carlos Yulo added two more golds to the nation’s tally, further exemplifying the foundation of excellence Diaz had laid. Hidilyn Diaz's journey teaches us the true essence of the Shingo Principle of “Focus on Process.” Each Olympic cycle involved thousands of lifts, countless adjustments, and an unwavering commitment to improvement. She didn’t just chase medals; she tirelessly honed her craft, demonstrating that true excellence is forged through years of dedicated process enhancement. In your organization, are you focusing on quick wins or investing in a gold-medal process? As we look forward, ask yourself: What processes will you commit to refining over the next four years to achieve sustained excellence? #ShingoInstitue #FocusOnProcess #ContinuousImprovement #Olympics #Leadership #Excellence Mary Price Helen Zak Amy Sadler Peter Barnett Shaun Barker Ken Snyder

WHAT NOW??? Do you have goals you want to achieve? Maybe you have achieved some of your goals already? If so, the question remains, is that a good thing? Maybe you have not set your goals high enough as many people think, that achieving your goals is the worst that can happen. Look at professional athletes for example. Whenever they win their first championship, they burst out in tears. Many times, it is not necessarily tears of joy, but the question "what now?" Maybe you know the story of Michael Jordan. After winning three championships in a row, he stepped away from the game, as he had no more motivation and nothing else to prove. Luckily, he found his motivation again, came back and won three more in a row. Moral of the story is…, set your goals high and reach for the sky. You are the only one that can stop you. #Motivation #GoalSetting #GetItDone #GrowthMindset #SuccessFactors

No matter your thoughts on breaking (the sport), RayGun's Olympic performance made it hard to ignore. The point? Rachael Gunn performed...with courage. She knew she wasn’t the best but competed anyway. It’s easy to critique the process or the sport itself, but that was out of Rachael's control. Imagine if she’d played it safe and withdrawn to avoid potential failure or to spare the Australian Olympic Committee from embarrassment. That would have meant living with regret and wondering, "What if?" Instead, she faced the challenge head-on. As Theodore Roosevelt put it, the real credit goes to those who step into the arena, trying their best, even if they don’t succeed. Are you stepping up and playing big - your best game - in your own life? I help people make the most of their significant moments and overcome the fears that hold them back. Join my free online webinar on Wednesday, 28 August at 8:00 am AEST (Sydney time): "Make the Most of Your High-Performance Moments." Watching the Olympics reminds me of a great quote from James Clear in his bestseller Atomic Habits: "Every Olympian wants to win a gold medal. Every candidate wants to get the job. And if successful and unsuccessful people share the same goals, then the goal cannot be what differentiates the winners from the losers..." __________________________________ It's the SYSTEM that determines success. It's less about the goals you set and more about the system you have in place to achieve them. While we can't all be Olympians, we can all have winning systems to reach our own goals.
