Millions of lives could be saved each year if lung cancers were identified in their early stages. I have long believed that including ultrasound with mammograms is crucial for early detection. Despite the superior technology of MRI, by the time it's ordered, cancer has often spread. Unfortunately, cost constraints and payor agreements hinder the integration of ultrasound with mammograms.
