???????????? To all of the incredible public servants out there, at all levels, For National Public Service Week 2024, I want to express my deepest gratitude for all that you do. Whether you're working tirelessly in safety, security, healthcare, education, transportation, or any other sector, your dedication and selflessness do not go unnoticed. Day-in and day-out, you show up with a commitment to serve others, often facing challenges and obstacles with unwavering resolve. Your passion for making a difference in the lives of fellow citizens is truly inspiring. It's not just about the tasks you perform; it's about the impact you have on communities, families, and individuals. Your hard work helps build a better society for all of us, and for that, we are profoundly grateful. In a #VUCA world that can sometimes feel harsh and divided, the work you do reminds us of the power of unity and common purpose. You embody the values of compassion, empathy, and solidarity, and you remind us that we're all in this together. This week, let's pause to recognize and honour each and every one of you. Human-to-human: THANK YOU for your dedication. THANK YOU for your sacrifice. THANK YOU for all that you do behind the scenes. And THANK YOU for your unwavering commitment to serving others! You truly make the world a better place!! #publicserviceproud With sincere, heartfelt appreciation, Shannon [Image descriptions: Beginning of post has 3 Canada flag emojis: the attached file is a DALL-E-3 image generated by AI depicting several smiling diverse animated professionals with their arms in the air, colourful balloons, and confetti crowding the background] #nationalpublicserviceweek #npsw #npsw2024 #gc #publicservice #serviceexcellence #publicservicerecognition #recognition #publicservants #thankapublicservant

During our latest Community Coffee and Chat, we discussed key elements of the new Global CCCM Strategy and shared field experiences from ACTED (Cox's Bazar and Syria) and other locations on community engagement in displacement responses. The session highlighted practical approaches, tools, and strategies to enhance participation, resilience, and protection for displaced communities. ?? Key Highlights from the Session 1?? Overview of the 2025 - 2029 Global Camp Coordination and Camp Management Cluster Strategy - Expanding coordination beyond formal camps to include informal sites and area-based responses. - Promoting alternatives to camps, local leadership, and durable solutions. - Strengthening inclusive protection mechanisms for vulnerable groups such as women, children, and persons with disabilities. - Community engagement is a cross-cutting component, prioritized across eight key areas of focus. 2?? Field Success Stories Community-Led Initiatives in Displacement Camps (by Emma Berkhout, ACTED Area Manager, Cox Bazar): - Communities identified and implemented small construction projects such as repairing paths and bridges. - Local groups took ownership of environmental projects, including flood prevention and stream maintenance. - Volunteer-based fire response teams were organized and trained, reducing fire risks and increasing camp safety through localized solutions. Gender-Inclusive Programming (by Chloé Mandelbaum, ACTED CCCM Project Coordinator in Syria): A gender analysis framework helped ensure projects promoted women’s empowerment and did not reinforce inequalities. Initiatives included hiring women for non-traditional roles and launching vocational training tailored to local needs, moving beyond predetermined programs like sewing. Innovative Engagement Tool (by Ogwuche Christopher, YPHO, Nigeria): A storytelling and drama-based tool was shared that enhance participation. Beneficiaries act out real-life scenarios to address protection, education, and GBV issues, using local resources to ensure sustainability. ?? Challenges and Recommendations Advocacy vs. Donor Sensitivities: Balancing humanitarian principles with maintaining donor relationships remains a challenge when raising community concerns. Sustainability Through Localization: Strengthening local leadership and capacity-building is key to long-term engagement success. Resource Adaptation: Participants emphasized the need for more practical tools that can be easily implemented using local resources. ?? Next Steps - Continue to share resources with field practitioners that can be tailored to their specific contexts. - Develop innovative methods to engage diverse community groups effectively. - Strengthen collective advocacy through partnerships and networks. ?? Thank you to all participants for your valuable contributions! ??? You can watch the recorded session here: https://lnkd.in/e4a59UWY ?? Last month I had the privilege of attending a Regional Australia Institute changemakers event. The key theme was, what can you do to envoke change on an issue that needs it and how. So, we all had some discussions and used methodolgies we gained from the event. On the last day we did a bit of workshopping and testing theories for a bit of a sanity check. My issue (and I have lots ??) was a gap in funding for emergency repairs to infrastructure, which has rared it's head in our region. What this means is that currently there are very little options (if any) to fund emergency repairs to critical infrastructure that falls (questionably) out of Governments mandate. Most funders wont touch a project that has already been done. I do understand this and also agree it is open to abuse, fraud etc, however, what happens when it's real, can be proven and possibly a matter of life and death for the community? To this Anna Stephenson put me in touch with Meaghan Burkett who is working on a framework for place based capital that could address this kind of problem. We had a short webinar last week on this and will post the link in comments. A little way to go, but foundations are starting to build!

As we conclude OCD Awareness Week, let's highlight the power of trust in overcoming OCD. "The antidote to OCD is trust. Trust in yourself mainly. When I'm obsessing, I'm not trusting my senses or logic. When I am doing exposures, I'm trusting that I can live life the way I want—without certainty or perfection." — CBTeam Patient At CBTeam, we work with individuals to help them embrace uncertainty and rediscover trust in themselves. We guide our clients toward a life free from the need for certainty or perfection. Thank you for joining us in raising awareness this week. Let's keep spreading hope, trust, and support. ?? https://cbteam.org/ #OCDAwarenessWeek #TrustYourself #OCDRecovery #MentalHealthMatters #ExposureTherapy #CBTeam #YouAreNotAlone
