Here’s what’s missing from Israel Innovation Authority’s 76 page report: Lions Give me 2 minutes and I’ll explain. Imagine 2 lions One lion, grew up in the Zoo. It enjoyed a comfortable life. The temperature was mostly controlled and the food always arrived on time. The other lion grew up in the Jungle and in constant discomfort. If it didn't hunt or it slowed down, it would starve. Now imagine if you put those two lions in a pit and only one could survive. Which lion are you betting will come out on top? Times are tough in Israel, because like the jungle lion we live in rough neighborhood. For months, Israeli founders and employees have been on actual battlefields. At the same time, their international counterparts are battling to get the barista’s attention in the morning. Is this ideal? No, but in the cat eat cat world that is the free market, the “jungle lions” will survive. You might be thinking I am blinded by my love of Zion.? You’re not wrong, but neither am I. In Israel, grit isn’t a bug, nor a feature. Grit is the whole product. Ask any Israeli founder to tell you about their grandparents' life. 50%+ will tell you they were immigrants who escaped to Israel with nothing but their lives. In startups only the strongest survive.
