Shifting from a linear economy, where we use natural resources to make products and then dispose of them after a single use, to a circular economy, where we reduce waste, reuse or refill products over and over, and recover and recycle materials to make new products, will require major investments in infrastructure to close the loop.
Did you know? 85% of the #1 PET plastic you put in the recycling bin gets used to make new products. Don’t trust the negative headlines—plastics recycling works every day, but only if everyone participates. We can’t recycle what we don’t collect. It’s time to invest in and improve recycling systems—not abandon them. ?? Those headlines that recycling doesn't work or it all gets thrown away: WRONG. If you stop recycling, you're actually doing more harm. I break down the misleading information about recycling and explain what does work, and how and why we should invest in making it work better. Please share our podcast and also share your feedback so we can continue to correct the record on recycling and get moving on the more important conversations about how to make it better.

“The only thing we should be trashing is the "stop recycling" soundbite. Let's move past the distractions and start the real work.” THIS. ?? Being on the forefront of community outreach, I often hear phrases like “Recycling doesn’t work” or “It’s all going to the same place anyways-the landfill”. But is it? I get it. The recycling industry hasn’t always been ideal, but when are we going to stop allowing the negative stigma around recycling dictate what we do with our waste? With our Community Recycling Units being strategically positioned in rural and urban communities, we are working to pioneer a new path for harder to recycle plastics and aluminum collection, for all. Free to use for customers. I have seen first hand the transparency and accountability measures that the D6 team is taking to ensure that we are being a responsible end market for our products, taking full custody of the bale until it lands back on the shelves of retailers. It.?? Works.?? and it’s time that we all take a stance together to work through the negativity to create something more positive. Something better than it once was. ?? #recycling #sustainability #plasticsrecycling #responsibleendmarket

I had the pleasure of speaking with Amelia Trumble from Retold Recycling on the latest episode of Why Get Wasted Podcast: Innovative Solutions for Climate Change. Ever wondered what to do with old clothing and fabric scraps? Amelia's unique fabric recycling company tackles this issue by determining what can be donated and what can be recycled. It's a game-changer in reducing fabric waste that usually ends up in landfills. Many clothing items donated to thrift shops unfortunately meet the same fate, but Retold Recycling is changing that narrative! Let's join the movement towards sustainable practices. https://lnkd.in/gJ3yR9Jy #podcast #climate #climatechange #fabricrecycling #fabricwaste.
