Congratulations to the Outsourcing Facilities Association (OFA) for their successful efforts in lobbying the South Carolina Legislature to pass HB 3592. Signed into law last week, this new legislation codifies the ability for FDA-Registered 503B Outsourcing Facilities such as SKNV to sell to prescribers or pharmacies without requiring a patient-specific prescription in the state of South Carolina. Such law preserves the supply chain and ensures both providers and patients have consistent access to customized prescriptions from FDA-Registered 503B Outsourcing Facilities. By supporting this law, the OFA has taken a significant step toward enhancing the efficiency and accessibility of compounded medications. “At SKNV, we are dedicated to supporting initiatives that promote the health and well-being of our community. Today the?Federal Trade Commission?held an open commission meeting on the recently released preliminary report of its highly anticipated 6(b) study into PBM practices. During the meeting, independent pharmacists, physicians, and pharmacy and patient advocates commented on the impact of PBM abuses on their patients and businesses. APRx EVP & General Counsel Miguel Rodriguez highlighted additional items for the commission’s consideration, including diminishing pharmacy access and one-sided non-negotiable contract terms that govern every aspect of a pharmacy’s business, making it nearly impossible for independent pharmacies and their patients to thrive.
