The seed. The intention. The preparation. Please join NCDVTMH for our first session of the Wildflower Path webinar series. In this first session, we will introduce our upcoming mind-body-spirit (MBS) toolkit that is set to release in 2025 by describing its purpose, intention, and how to use it. Throughout our time together, we aim to help participants understand the benefits of MBS exercises by asking ourselves: What feels good to me? What kinds of practices might support others? This first session, and the sessions to follow, is an invitation to those who have experienced trauma, know someone who has experienced trauma, or provide support to those who have been impacted by trauma. Before the end of our time together, we will identify healing components of MBS practices that not only support our individual healing journeys but also support our efforts to heal as a community when we share ideas and practice together. **Setting Boundaries and Overcoming Trauma** Setting boundaries can bring up a lot of emotions, especially when tied to historic trauma. It's challenging but essential. By exploring what happens in our bodies when we say “no” and “yes,” we learn to set healthy boundaries. A clear “NO” without justification is a powerful statement. Speaking from our gut, with eyes open and confidence, makes our message clear. This isn't easy for those who weren’t heard or had their boundaries crossed growing up. Setting healthy boundaries takes courage and allows you to take control of your life. It feels empowering once we deal with the guilt and shame. Laughing at ourselves during this process can help too. Our online groups start every four weeks. Our skilled therapists work with individuals and couples online and in person.

?? Navigating Complex Trauma: A Trauma-Informed Perspective ?? In the field of improved relationships, when is reforming relationships potentially not the best avenue? As support workers, coordinators, or therapists, we often grapple with complex questions surrounding trauma recovery. Recently, a pertinent query arose: Should we suggest that individuals rekindle relationships with significant trauma figures to aid in their healing and understanding? The answer, most of the time, unfortunately, is no. While fostering reconciliation and nurturing existing relationships holds value, we must recognize the different dynamics of complex trauma-laden relationships, such as domestic violence, sustained abuse, and neglect. Consider this fundamental truth: "The hands that hurt us are rarely the hands that heal us." This sobering reminder underscores the delicate nature of trauma recovery. Instead, we focus on creating environments conducive to healing, empowerment, and forming new, safe, supportive relationships. By prioritizing these connections, individuals can embark on a journey toward fulfillment and well-being. Let's continue championing trauma-informed care and supporting individuals as they navigate their path to healing and recovery. #TraumaInformedCare #HealingJourney

Complex childhood trauma profoundly shapes lives, influencing how survivors navigate each day. It is crucial to educate ourselves about the pervasive nature of such trauma to truly understand and support those affected. A comprehensive understanding of trauma's intricacies is essential for approaching survivors with the compassion and empathy they deserve. Trauma-informed individuals recognize the immense strength required for survivors to manage daily challenges. This deeper awareness empowers us to be allies in their healing journey, enabling us to be thoughtful, kind, and gracious in our interactions. By doing so, we help trauma survivors feel seen, valued, and capable of thriving despite their past experiences. Ultimately, this commitment to understanding and empathy contributes to a more compassionate and resilient society, where everyone has the opportunity to heal and flourish. #kindnesswillalwaysmatter #nevergiveup
