First notable quote: "Just do what you say you are going to do!" -Unknown Why this is my first quote to share? For me personally and professionally, I have built a brand on integrity. Trust that I will do it and do it well. It is communicated to all our team members and ingrained in our veins NB Business Solutions. If you're not going to do something, say it and say why. Have the courage. If you don't strive to be great and follow through with your words, you shouldn't be doing what you do. #Integrity #Trust
This year I joined the HMSDC (Houston Minority Supplier Development Council) Board of Directors. During our first meeting in January, we had the pleasure of welcoming Joi Beasley to facilitate a leadership workshop when each Board member reviewed and picked from a stack of cards with notable quotes. We were asked to pick 5 cards that had personal meaning to each of us. Great exercise! I shared the stack of cards with my leadership team and even my 13-year old son. It is a wonderful learning exercise to hear what and why certain quotes resonated with each. Later, I went back and selected 5 more. In the next coming weeks I will share my notable quotes and why I picked them. Again, thank you Joi Beasley for an engaging morning.

What is your leadership philosophy? As I continue to navigate the leadership landscape, I think it begins and ends with the Golden Rule......Treat others as you would like to be treated......at the end of the day, listening to your team and empowering them to drive decision making and results are essential to a robust performance. Here is a good read from the US ARMY that resonated with me. https://lnkd.in/gTmPebAQ

Teams, reguardless of industry or occupation have alot of moving parts and it takes a good leader to keep them moving. If you want to be in a leadership position ask a question about how it’s done. If you are in a leadership position, comment how you keep the gears moving or answer a question. -G&G

Here is a practical leadership approach on emphasizing the need to work with the current strengths and weaknesses of a team while guiding them toward improvement. “You can’t lead the team you want, you must lead the team you have. While building them into the team you want to have.” - Jon Gordon

Not every chair is created equal. Some chairs carry the weight of decisions that shape futures. Some chairs witness the courage it takes to inspire change. Some chairs are reserved for those bold enough to transform themselves—and their teams. This chair isn’t just a piece of furniture. It’s a symbol of leadership, accountability, and legacy. Are you ready to take your seat? Because leadership isn’t about the title—it’s about what you do with it. Start building your legacy today: https://lnkd.in/eSSHCGs

Leaders, your job is tough. Part of the toughness is balancing what can feel like opposing forces at times. Tim Elmore has a wonderful book called The Eight Paradoxes of Great Leadership. One of the important and tricky distinctions he calls out is the need to be both Visible and Hidden. There’s value in your presence, and also value in your absence. Think about this for just a minute. Consider your team who you want to see grow, develop, and thrive. Are you intentional at being present sometimes and absent other times? Something to chew on for all of us. ????

As the wheels of transformation are churning our inner world, the question Who Am I starts to burn from within. ? The mind will grasp for answers in the need to hold on to the definition of one Self. For many, the identity of being a leader and taking pride in what one accomplishes through ones leadership is central to their understanding of themselves. Paradoxically, it is what limits the potential of one's leadership. In a world where we are constantly asked to define ourselves and stand out, it is scary to release all definitions and disappear into the nothingness of our true nature. But only here, we can truly become. When the question of who we are and what we bring to this world burns, it is an invitation not to grasp, but to let go of any form you confine yourself to.

Authentic leadership often involves shouldering burdens and responsibilities that many choose to evade, contrasting sharply with the individual glory and recognition that some pursue. True leaders confront challenges directly, often prioritizing the comfort and well-being of their team or community above their own. Their strength is derived not only from their capacity to make difficult decisions but also from their empathy, resilience, and steadfast commitment to those they serve. These leaders recognize that genuine leadership transcends accolades and authority; it is rooted in service, integrity, and the readiness to navigate arduous paths so that others may have a smoother journey. With every burden they bear and each scar they acquire, they enhance their ability to inspire, guide, and uplift those around them.
