The Wright Brothers are credited with inventing modern flight, but they didn’t do it alone. They built on the work of pioneers like Samuel Langley and Otto Lilienthal. Instead of starting from scratch, they studied existing designs, learned from failures, and made improvements until they created a working airplane. This is a powerful reminder that innovation doesn’t always mean creating something new - it’s often about improving what’s already out there. The same applies to business. You don’t need a groundbreaking idea to succeed. Look at existing products or services, find areas for improvement, and focus on refining them. Even small tweaks can make a BIG difference. Success often comes from adapting and building on what already works, just like the Wright Brothers did.

The DOD has launched multiple innovation-focused organizations over the last decade to foster the development and deployment of new technologies. This strategy aims to create greater alignment between how the DOD is used to working and how startups prefer to operate. This multipronged approach is illustrated by a growing list of organizations and programs, including: - The Defense Innovation Unit (DIU), which focuses on scaling defense innovation through greater connection and collaboration with private companies - The Office of Strategic Capital (OSC), which aims to attract and scale private capital to bolster national security - National Security Innovation Capital (NSIC), a new program focused on funding hardware startups solving defense-related issues - AFWERX, the innovation arm of the Air Force focused on connecting with the startup ecosystem and adopting new tech - NAVALX, the Navy’s innovation arm focused on being a super-connector across private companies, academia and other federal agencies - Army Applications Lab, an Army organization focusing on bridging the Valley of Death by providing funding and testing and potentially deploying new tech This builds on the activities of established organizations like DARPA and In-Q-Tel.

Ohio Tech News: 2nd Innovation Hub Announced for Dayton. (DAYTON, Ohio)—Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, Lt. Governor Jon Husted, and Ohio Department of Development Director Lydia Mihalik today announced that Dayton has been selected as the site of Ohio's second innovation hub. Supported with $35 million in state funding from the Ohio Innovation Hubs Program, the new onMain Innovation Hub will bring together government, academia, and private sector industry partners to make Dayton a global leader in the research and development of digital transformation technologies. The project is also supported with a local match of at least $23 million and a private sector investment of up to $37 million. State funding will primarily be used to construct the onMain Innovation Hub's Digital Transformation Center (DTC) on the former Montgomery County fairgrounds site in the greater downtown Dayton area. The DTC will serve as the hub's headquarters, where partners will collaborate to create digital technology that will drive advancements in aviation and national defense. Among its top priorities, the onMain Innovation Hub will support the digital transformation of the U.S. Air Force to revolutionize how it designs and manufactures everything from airplanes and missiles to sensors, hardware, software, and more. "The Miami Valley has always been a place where big ideas take flight, and the unprecedented collaboration that will happen under the umbrella of the onMain Innovation Hub will lead to digital technologies that will impact lives across the world," said Governor DeWine. "This new collaboration will be transformative for this region, leading to more investments, more jobs, and more of the world's most innovative thinkers calling Dayton home." https://bit.ly/3yzCZyt #Tech #Innovation #Ohio #Dayton

A few months ago, Benjamin, Simon, Gayathri, Vincent Nusmeier, and I embarked on a journey together through the Business Design Deep Dive program at Manage and More by UnternehmerTUM. Our challenge seemed unconventional at first - "how to make EV driving greener". After all, aren't EVs supposed to be green? Isn't that the whole point of driving an EV? The deeper we dived into the complexities of the energy market, we realized there was more to the story. Even with EVs, achieving true sustainability is a puzzle with many missing pieces. With the invaluable guidance of Dr. Johanna Bronisch, our partner from the Digital Hub Mobility by UnternehmerTUM, we explored countless ideas to revolutionize this market. And despite numerous pivots and last-minute changes before pitches or presentations, we eventually uncovered our solution: Accurate Carbon Accounting for Electric Fleet Vehicles. Sounds very standard, right? However, with our groundbreaking technology, we can meticulously track the CO2 emissions of your EV fleet with just a single connection to our App. You don't have to worry about it, the magic happens seamlessly behind the scenes, leaving you free to focus on your business. But we aim for much more than that, we want to prepare your company for the impending 2025 regulations and compel energy providers to embrace renewable energy sources. It's been a rollercoaster ride, filled with doubts and moments of uncertainty. But one thing has remained constant throughout the ride: Our team. That's why we're thrilled to announce the official launch of Carbon Connect, with the invaluable mentorship of XPLORE. If you share our passion for green energy and transparency, we'd love to connect! ?? #CarbonConnect #GreenEnergy #Transparency #Sustainability
Here comes the first Batch of the year, Batch # 1/2024! ?? ?? After going through a competitive application phase and pitching to our coaches in our Entry Gate we finally have our 18 teams! We congratulate the promising teams joining the XPLORE program in the most critical phase of their journey where they will set the foundations of their start-up. ?? The coming months will be full of triumphs and challenges as these teams focus their ideas and solutions on building their start-ups. And we will be there supporting them every step of the way. So, without further ado, here are the teams: Aiina Robotics AIRGAE BEAM Bioscape Biosense Quantum CarbonConnect CLINLEAP DataX HyBird Aero Hyde MediOwl Muniqo Perfomante Patalyze Prio Optics Radalp Reeq Savionic YieLED “The best way to predict the future is to create it” - Peter Drucker #XPLORE #earlystagestartups #entrepreneurship #tech
