Hello #connections , I’m very excited to share that I’ve started my journey to become a Game Developer at Outscal with their Full Stack Game Development Program under the guidance of Mayank Grover, Arindam Bharati, Satnamji Arora, other talented mentors & team. Since, its an important decision of my career & life, I want to share a bit more. I remember playing Tetris for the first time in my school days on a Gameboy knockoff that was given to me as a birthday present. Later my father bought a Viktor 8-bit TV gaming console for me & my brother on which we used to play Super Mario Bros & Duck Hunt with 99 games in 1 game cartridge. After 10th Boards exams, when I chose to study with Computer Science for my 11th & 12th , I got a PC to learn C++ coding. Luckily that PC could run all sorts of flash games, 2D & even some 3D games like Project IGI, GTA Vice city, NFS & Prince of Persia. During my college days, my father bought me a decent laptop for study, and that Laptop could run Crysis 2. ?? I played a whole lot of games on that which I am guilty of pirating & even have forgotten their names. But what I can never forget is playing Counter Strike 1.6 & GO on LAN with my friends. Even after getting my first job, I kept playing CS GO with some of those friends on weekends until, everyone got busy with their life. Playing with randoms is no fun. During the 2020 pandemic, I chose to switch my career because of the low paying monotonous job. Combining that with Work from Home, it was pushing me into depression. Fortunately, I was able to transition my career successfully & landed a decent UX Design job while taking a significant salary cut for not having the "Enough Experience". Unfortunately, my fear of repeating same scenario from my previous job was creeping up to me. Combining that with the lack of confidence due to not having a design background, long working hours & dealing with some personal problems altogether, last year I had to leave the UX design job that had moments of enjoyment & fullfillment for me. For that I am quite grateful. After that I have been looking for what to do next. It took me some time (enough time to gain 20 kgs weight) & a few long phone calls with an old friend to realize that throughout the ups & downs in the last couple of years, Video Games have always been one of the constants in my life. That has been one of the sources of happiness whenever I was feeling down. So, I have decided to share that happiness with others by creating my own games. I have decided to embark on this journey to become a Game Developer. Looking forward to this new journey and hope to build new connections in the gaming industry/community. According to Outscal there are 23,888 + jobs in games right now everywhere. Just a reminder that there are 8.2 billion people in the world. So that's not a lot of jobs.? - If you filter by category "Art" that drops to 585 then remove jobs posted older than one month you get 156 and finally remove those that are not remote and that leaves 41 jobs. 13 European time zone Game Dev art jobs,?12 America time zone Game Dev art jobs , 4 Indian time zone Game Dev jobs and 12?"Worldwide" (some are clearly duplicates though). My conclusion? Not good times OR Outscal doesn't have good Intel on art gamedev jobs. Please be option 2!
