Hey, everyone! We shipped 3 containers on one vessel. As we found out later it was too small to overcome the storm, our containers were damaged from the inside. This was reported in Shanghai. The containers had to be returned to Japan as they could not go further to South America. Now we are in a debate with the shipping company as to who is responsible for what happened and the associated costs. This video shows the inspection of first container by the sarveys of the two companies. One sarveyor was invited by us, the other by the carrier shipping comnpany. I wonder what conclusions will be drawn.

After plundering their own waters, China continues to overfish from some of the worlds already most economically stressed communities. The seafood trade in these communities, serves as one of their main gross domestic products(GDP), yet China disregards this, for continued un-ethical profits. To add insult to injury, China maintains their illegalities, with forced labor from ethnically persecuted groups, including that of the Uyghur muslims. Unsustainable fishing has to stop, it is a human rights violation, destroying our ecosystem, and eliminates serviceable jobs for local fishermen. #freetheuyghurmuslims #stopchinagenocide

Described as one of the biggest-ever threats to New Zealand's marine life with potential impacts to affect the entire food chain. Exotic invasive Caulerpa, (aka: Killer Algae) is the most serious marine incursion seen in New Zealand. It grows at speed over the seabed, smothers and kills all sealife beneath it. The resulting carpet of Caulerpa means fish, shellfish and kelp have little chance of survival. Big industries such as fishing and tourism are at direct risk. Government inaction with Andrew Hoggart saying it can't be eradicated from our waters is disturbing t say the least. Responses to date have been totally inadequate. The New Zealand Institute of Economic Research (NZIER) an independent economic consultancy has stated natural capital value of NZD$40-100 billion dollars worth of economic losses is directly on the horizon - an estimated potential annual income loss of @NZD$5 billion dollars and that's just for the Hauraki Golf alone! If Caulerpa reaches the Ports of Auckland - economic losses will go national & colossal. Californian Ports will certainly not accept New Zealand ships carrying Caulerpa after what they've been through. Monaco's losses in the 80's where completely devastating - with sea life stocks cut in half in just 6 years. New Zealand's will be even more so. This needs serious and immediate government direct action in order to wipe it out at scale! #Caulerpa #NZIER #LiveOcean #Sunday #OneNews

Yesterday, we released our report and film on the Chinese distant water fleet (DWF) in the South-West Indian Ocean (SWIO), the first investigation of its kind. The findings build on our extensive analysis of the Chinese DWF, and reveal rampant illegal fishing and abuses on board these vessels. We conducted interviews with 44 fishers who worked on board China’s tuna fleet – all of whom reportedly experienced or witnessed some form of illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing and/or human rights abuses. See what % of those interviewed reported each abuse in our infographic below. The ramifications are serious. Crew members on board, many of whom are migrant workers, are subjected to conditions of modern slavery. Extremely cruel practices like shark finning are also inflicted on vulnerable marine animals, often so their body parts can be consumed, sold, or kept as souvenirs. Summary: Chinese coastguard officials seized a Taiwanese fishing boat near the Chinese coast and brought it to a port in mainland China, prompting Taiwan to call for the release of the boat and its crew. The incident occurred as China has increased patrols around Taiwans Kinmen islands following fishing accidents. Taiwan's coast guard dispatched vessels to rescue the boat, but were blocked by Chinese ships. The fishing boat had six crew members, including migrants from Indonesia. Taiwan has called on China to explain the seizure and urged fishermen to be vigilant. This is not the first time such incidents have occurred between Taiwan and China. #AsiaRisk #GeopoliticalConflictandDisputes #Taiwan Follow us for daily updates on risk and operations in Asia! https://lnkd.in/gbHKep5G
