MANY KIDS TODAY ARE LIVING IN A SWAMP For too long now the woke education system has told our kids they can be and do whatever they want. BS. They forget the sense of purpose, hard work and discipline required to achieve anything worthwhile. When we fail to provide boundaries, like a river without banks, a swamp is the outcome. To change this will require a new style of parenting and education which doesn't try to make parents and teachers just friends of the kids. Oh no, they need guidance provided by firm and loving hands. Until this happens, our society will continue to reflect the swamp our younger generation feel they are struggling in. DNA of leadership. Destination. Where are we heading? Navigation. How will we get there? Atmosphere. Are our leaders engaging us in the process? Time to drain the swamp, build strong river banks, clear a channel and give our kids hope. What do you think, feel? No Shave November, Convent School Days & Early #Leadership Lessons! 2009 – As a 12th grader at St. Patrick's H.S. School, Asansol ( ISC 2010, ICSE 2008), I had the honor of serving as the Dy Head Boy, a role that tested my mettle and shaped my understanding of leadership in ways I never imagined. In a convent school where discipline was a way of life, the Dy Head Boy badge wasn’t just a title; it was a promise—to put the school, my classmates, and my teachers above everything else. Whether it was keeping attendance records, carrying the class teacher’s logbook, or volunteering for every possible task (because “I’ll do it” was practically my tagline), I threw myself into it all with passion. Volunteering wasn’t just a duty; it was my identity. From managing events to setting the "specimen copy standard" for assignments and projects, the goal was always excellence. Back then, it wasn’t about applause; it was about responsibility, teamwork, and service. And those early experiences taught me: ?? Leadership starts with service—rolling up your sleeves and stepping up. ?? Excellence is a habit—whether you’re handling a logbook or leading a team. ?? Your school years are your foundation—shaping the person you’ll become. Looking at this picture—Bushy beard (thanks to No Shave November), clicked by a point and shoot camera Kodak C 140, and a heart full of dreams—I can’t help but feel grateful. Those moments taught me to prioritize others, work meticulously, and lead with empathy—values that still guide me today. Here’s to the school days that molded us, the memories that inspire us, and the lessons that last a lifetime. ?? ?? What leadership lesson did your school teach you? Let’s share some nostalgia! #Throwback #NoShaveNovember #ConventSchoolDays #DyHeadBoy #LeadershipJourney #VolunteerSpirit #StPatricksPride #SpecimenCopyAttitude #NostalgiaWithLessons

This is an example of our work to rebuild the #BlackTeacherPipeline. We know #WeNeedBlackTeachers and it can happen by investing in future and current educators at every step of the way. Read about our theory of change: https://lnkd.in/gc92tpeB
So far this school year, we've proudly awarded 13 teachers of color with funding to support their journey toward certification and professional growth! Thanks to two amazing grants—the Teacher and School Leader Incentive Program (TSL) through the U.S. Department of Education and the Center for Black Educator Development (CBED)’s Black Teacher Pipeline grant—Mastery has received $430,000 to expand our Enhanced Professional Development Program (EPDP) through 2026. These funds will help support the Mastery Educator Equity Initiative (MEEI), a program aimed to assist teachers of color in high-need areas with alternative certification and support general education teachers in earning their special education certification. Each applicant can receive up to $10,000 in funding, with the commitment to serve our students for 3+ years. We’re so grateful to these educators for their dedication and can’t wait to share their stories soon. #NJed #PHLed #InvestInTeachers #EdEquity

Purdue University Professor Breanya Hogue, Ph.D., a former Ella Baker Trainer and #CDFFreedomSchools Servant Leader Intern, recently delivered an inspiring presentation as part of Purdue University College of Education’s "Power Friday" series. Her lecture, called “Community Engaged Research Through the Purdue Children's Defense Fund’s (CDF) Freedom School Program at First United Methodist Church,” not only highlighted the impact of #CDFFreedomSchools, empowering young people and communities, but it also educated attendees about the program’s aim to increase literacy, instill leadership, and activate a love of learning in children. "Our parents tell us they've seen tremendous growth in confidence [in their children]," Dr. Hogue said. "We have some scholars who are brand new and throughout the summer, they blossomed." Don’t miss this opportunity to hear her insights and learn how research and action can come together to make a difference. Watch now: https://bit.ly/40oK3Zw
