NEW WEBINAR RECORDING ?? 'State of #LTC assessment: Multi-stakeholder Participatory Approaches' How can multi-stakeholder participatory approaches be used to build #Consensus and plan LTC #Reform? ?? Multi-stakeholder, participatory processes are important in shaping ambitious, inclusive, and sustainable long-term care policy reforms that address the care needs and preferences of diverse communities. In support of efforts under the #EUCareStrategy, the WHO Regional Office for Europe and Directorate-General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion (Social Europe DG EMPL) at the European Commission have developed the ‘State of LTC’ assessment framework to support the efforts of #EU Member States in strengthening their #LTCSystems. The framework promotes a participatory, multi-stakeholder approach to collecting data, building consensus on system-level goals, informing strategic planning and reform processes, and promoting performance management. In this webinar World Health Organization Europe and DG EMPL presents a proposed approach of engaging diverse stakeholders in participatory LTC reform processes, as envisioned through the State of LTC assessment, followed by presentations on experiences from Member States where such participatory processes have been carried out using the State of LTC instrument and a discussion on the value that participatory processes have in LTC reforms. First session this morning at #RISE West was an insightful session by Carolyn Kapustij, Sr. Advisor at the Office of Inspector General (OIG) where she highlighted their three key pillars for managed care oversight. 1. Ensuring Access to Quality Care 2. Strengthening Financial Oversight 3. Promoting Accurate Data Access These pillars are crucial in protecting beneficiaries and ensuring they are receiving the best care possible. The OIG emphasized how critical it is for Medicare Advantage Organizations (MAOs) to invest in robust compliance programs to safeguard their beneficiaries and ensure program integrity and trust. Additionally, the OIG spoke about Medicare Advantage audits that they have conducted. The results were eye-opening, with many MAOs underperforming, and extrapolated repayment amounts reaching concerning levels. It’s clear that compliance isn’t just a box to check—it’s a cornerstone for success in the rapidly evolving Medicare Advantage space. #MedicareAdvantage #OIG #Compliance #Healthcare #Audit #RiskAdjustment

When laws are passed, there's always the letter of the law and the spirit of the law. When the Evidence Act was signed in 2019, the Partnered Evidence-based Policy Resource Center (PEPReC) within the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) developed the strength of evidence checklist to embody the spirit of the law. This tool is used to assess the evidence base included in legislative and budget proposals each year, the goal being that VHA offices are proposing evidence-based changes to current law or budget lines. PEPReC policy brief! The Evidence Act requires federal cabinet-level agencies to support policy and budget decisions with evidence. But, assessing the degree to which evidence is used and evaluating the quality of evidence can be challenging. We created a 'strength of evidence' checklist to facilitate this process. Is your FQHC ready for UDS+? UDS+ is the electronic submission of de-identified patient level data from health centers to HRSA through automated reporting platforms. HRSA is awarding all Health Center Program operational (H80) grantees with supplemental funds that can be used to support UDS+ implementation including: ? Training personnel ? New equipment ? Building capacity of systems infrastructure, securing data exchange & de-identifying patient level data ? Aligning or upgrading health information technology (HIT) systems with national interoperability standards ? Today, the #GoC introduced legislation proposing to extend the temporary exclusion of eligibility for medical assistance in dying for persons suffering solely from a mental illness for three years until March 17, 2027. Important progress has been made to prepare for MAID eligibility for persons whose sole medical condition is mental illness. The extension would provide more time for provinces and territories, and their partners to prepare their health care systems. This could include developing policies, standards, guidance, and additional resources for MAID assessors and providers. In addition, this extension would provide doctors and nurse practitioners with more time to participate in training and become familiar with available supports, guidelines, and safeguards. In this week's episode of 'provider wears government cost without compensation', AN-ACC minute audits now require providers to format and collate their data into a government approved template https://lnkd.in/geJnFvSa I'm yet to see any evidence that care minutes are a genuine answer to improving care outcomes. I can, however, see lots of evidence that outsourcing the audit process to big four consulting firms is costing the government a fortune and causing extra costs for providers If we have to focus on care minutes, maybe spending these audit fees on funding extra lifestyle and hospitality activities (or better yet, wage increases) would be a better use of public funds G5 Strategic #agedcareaustralia

The workshops at the National Aged Care Provider Conference #NACPC Conference today explored Open Disclosure, Serious Incident Reporting and the relationship between financial and quality outcomes. Many issues explored today relate to strong Clinical Governance processes. Clinical governance in the aged care sector continues to improve and evolve. As a clinical governance “specialist “, I believe that we need to constantly question if our approach the best approach. Does the way we do things keep us (and our clients) safe? When we compare data and organisational performance, are we talking about the same thing? Consistency in how a situation/incident is assessed is essential if findings across the sector are to be compared. #clinicalgovernance #ACQSC #homecare
