‘’I’m going to be bouncing off the walls for a couple of weeks at least’’ - That's what I said, 6 weeks on and it's still true ?? The excellent video recap of the outstanding Employee Ownership Association Annual Conference 2023 is live (link in comments) and here are some screenshots of my cheesy grin. You're welcome ?? I was honestly grinning like that before the awards ceremony too because the opportunity to talk with like-minded individuals, to share stories, best practice, successes, and challenges was immense [sorry Abigail Reeves (CertRP) I stole your line - see 01:58]. The EO community is unique and everyone's desire to help each other for the benefit of people and the economy is amazing to be a part of ?? At Stephens Scown we're always trying to evolve our EO. And what I and my colleagues found at the conference is that we, and others, can be a bit siloed in knowing what others are doing and how we can improve from their experiences - and vice-versa. As such, Dave Robbins and I are going to be kicking off a very informal 'Employee Owners knowledge sharing' monthly digital meeting so that we can maintain the energy and opportunity from the conference, continue the knowledge sharing, and grow our friendships with like-minded employee-owners. I'd definitely reiterate the 'informal' nature of this - we will see how the first one goes and the structure will develop from there. Mostly, we just want to get those like-minded people back in a room again - albeit a digital one. Interested? ?? Send me a direct message or respond in the comments if you are. Here we are again with some important highlights:Reward &Recognition, Reward is something given to appreciate employee’s efforts (e.g.employee of the month awards,employee name engraved on small plaque in the hospital lobby,movie ticket and afternoon off etc.). Recognition is acknowledgment of employee effectiveness (e.g.note of thank from one of executives to employee when a goal has been achieved,hand-written thank notes sent to family of individual who has been participating in projects,publicly recognize someone,and just simply round on your staff to say thank you etc,). Is commission dead? ?? ?? I really enjoyed attending the thought-provoking APSCo Disrupt session yesterday where industry leaders delved into this intriguing question. It was an engaging discussion/debate where traditional notions about commission structures in the recruitment industry were challenged. The event sparked valuable conversations on the future of compensation models and how we can adapt to the evolving workforce. Some great takeaways for me including: ?? Develop your reward strategy based on the behaviours your business wants to encourage (It's key to get clear on your people strategy before your rewards strategy! What people and skills are required to drive the success of your business? Are your rewards incentivising individual excellence or collaboration?) ?? Rewards for attraction are important but so are progression & longevity. It's all well and good securing candidates against your competitors, but that's not enough. What are the rewards offering longer term? Are your rewards set up to keep a few top billers for a couple of years, or are they attracting and retaining the people who are going to be future leaders of your business? ?? Rewards are not one size fits all. Drivers and motivations are changing. Not everyone's top priority is a monster comms scheme and earning ￡150k a year (I mean it still is for plenty of people ??). So are your rewards balanced, are they customisable, are they varied? But most importantly - REVIEW YOUR OFFERING REGULARLY. It's not enough to rest on your laurels and just assume that what you're offering is working. Reviewing what we offer is something that Amoria Group does regularly. I'm looking forward to our next EVP catch-up next week and I have lots of valuable nuggets from yesterday's session to discuss ?? So what do you reckon? Do EAs really need appreciation? The answer is a resounding 'Yes'. EAs are more than intermediaries applying their heart and soul in the organiation through their dedication which often is unrecognized. Yet, they maintain calm and self-motivation despite stress. Recognizing their efforts is crucial for their motivation, improving their performance and career satisfaction. ? During the recent IAA week, we requested feedback from managers of nominated Executive Assistants (EAs). The responses were overwhelmingly positive, revealing that while many EAs feel unappreciated, their managers highly value their contributions. ?This feedback underscores the strong work ethic and motivational boost for the EAs. This is manager's appreciation for Sandeep Khanna from his Executive Mr. Ranjit Bisht (We would like to extend our gratitude for taking time out of your busy schedules to acknowledge him). This truly demonstrates the organization's commitment to employee growth and empowerment, fostering a supportive and appreciative work environment.
