Check out the Good Morning America feature on Carroll Community College's 90-year-old prospective freshman and see how personal enrichment programs at community colleges create stronger communities. As we celebrate lifelong learning and community growth, I want to shine a spotlight on the incredible impact of personal enrichment programs offered by community colleges. These programs not only empower individuals but also contribute significantly to community vitality. Unlocking creativity and expanding horizons, personal enrichment courses cover a wide range of subjects, from history to arts, crafts, cooking, dance, music, travel, languages, fitness, and wellness. They provide a canvas for creativity, allowing participants to explore new interests, develop hidden talents, and connect with like-minded individuals. Whether it’s diving into history, learning to play an instrument, mastering a new recipe, or discovering the joy of painting, these programs foster personal growth and self-expression. Why Community Colleges? Community colleges are the heart of accessible education. They provide affordable, flexible, and community-centric learning opportunities. By championing personal enrichment programs, we invest in our collective future. When individuals thrive, communities flourish. Join the Movement! Let’s celebrate and advocate for these programs. Share your personal enrichment journey, encourage others to explore, and support community colleges. Together, we can create stronger, more vibrant neighborhoods—one lifelong learner at a time.
Most senior citizens prefer to spend their golden years taking it easy. Not 90-year-old Paul Hocheder. He wanted to go back to college! With the help of his granddaughter, Gabrielle, he achieved TikTok fame and landed an interview with ABC’s Good Morning America.

The journey with your children mirrors our own paths of self-discovery and growth. Just as our kids push back against the rules and identities we've set for them, we too must confront and overcome the rules and beliefs ingrained in us from our own childhoods. ***New Episode Drop - Episode 17**** ??According to the IFS - Institute of Family Studies research, immigrant parents have even higher expectations that their kids will not only get their undergraduate degrees but will go on to get graduate degrees. ????In other words, the kids are expected to attend college; ideally, it should be an Ivy League school. How do we pay for this education? You have various funding options. We jokingly divide these accounts into: - - Those kids can spend in Las Vegas, and those they cannot! What happens when as law students and newly enrolled advocates, we are asked whether we will defend the bad guy? Do we step back? Do we take it? Are we becoming bad by choosing to defend the wrong guy? This article, orginially a classroom discussion, talks about TRUTH AND PERSPECTIVE, just as the title suggests. Well recevied in classroom, I had tried to talk about the need to expanding one's understanding - and how it has been helpful too. The only downside - it talks only about mine! Though, I invite you to drop your expriences on this particularly peculiar journey of life in the comments down below here or on Medium, where this article is orginially posted. Until another one, folks!
