ver the last 10 days, we have been amazed by the mobilization and outpouring of support from friends, local businesses, and those far beyond our state. As the work has transitioned over the weekend from immediate crisis rescues to re-focus on recovery and longer term planning, we have pulled back our engagement as various teams have become more established in the area. With that in mind, the recovery of western North Carolina will take years. There will be opportunities in the coming months that we will engage in at both a personal and team level. Many of you have asked what organizations we could recommend for support and involvement. We have put together a list below: ? @Aerial Recovery is continuing their on the ground work. They are accepting financial donations to support their work. When not responding to support disasters, they are working to support our veterans through their Healing Our Hero’s branch. ? @Wine to Water is an international non-profit that has volunteer & financial support opportunities with their team in WNC that is working to provide clean, potable water to those who need it the most. ? @No Women, No Girl is a triangle based nonprofit that has volunteer and donation opportunities in the Raleigh area. They focus on supporting women and girls during the vulnerable stages related to being uprooted or transitioning between home places. ? @Samaritan’s Purse is an international organization focused on serving those in need in disaster areas. They have been a key part in organizing donation logistics and establishing volunteer hubs from the Sandhills to the Mountains in the last week. ? ? Give Blood! One donation can save 3 lives! @Triangle Shooting Academy has a blood drive this Saturday, October 12, 2024 with @TheBloodConnection. If you cannot make it this Saturday, check out the other opportunities on @thebloodconnection website. We highly suggest making an appointment for your donating ease!

Nonprofits that are facing unexpected and unbudgeted expenses need a lifeline. That’s where we come in! Our Critical Needs List provides a place for nonprofits that are currently facing time-sensitive operational challenges to share their needs with potential donors. NAMI Pasco is one of 66 nonprofits that have faced a challenge and received funding through the Critical Needs List since it started in 2021. After damages sustained from Hurricane Idalia, Pasco County’s main mental health hospital had to close. Pasco residents turned to the only nearby mental health provider: NAMI. Facing an influx of patients, NAMI requested funds for additional staff support. Generous fundholders stepped forward to fulfill most of NAMI’s request to continue providing accessible mental health services during an especially challenging time. To amplify this important funding, we provide a 1-to-3 match to any grants made from our fundholders to needs submitted on the Critical Needs List. View the Critical Needs List to see how to help a local nonprofit, or share it with a nonprofit that you think could benefit from the List: https://loom.ly/sUT6ikA #TampaBayNonProfit #NonprofitSupport #Philanthropy #Pasco

CEO of the highest-rated social impact platform on G2 - Groundswell | Executive Chairman at Team Rubicon
Fatigue in disaster philanthropy is real - and it’s real troubling. Middle America has been getting decimated the past 48 hours, yet nobody is paying attention. At least 13 people were killed overnight, but there’s no outpouring of support. Organizations like Team Rubicon are on the ground, responding with the same urgency that’s been their hallmark for over a decade. Yet donations from the public will not follow. This will quickly become unsustainable for organizations like TR. Ask yourself this question: what can I do today to make a difference. If you’re not grabbing a go-bag and deploying to the disaster zone, can you spare $10 to propel someone that is? #teamrubicon #csr #corporatesocialresponsibility #socialimpact #disastermanagement #emergencymanagement #philanthropy #nonprofit

It is a critical time to address the impact of high heat on individuals, families and communities across the state, particularly for those struggling financially to address and adapt to the record-breaking temperatures. Wildfire is here to help. Governor Hobbs' order also directed state agencies to develop a comprehensive heat plan by March 2024 and advocate for more federal Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) funding. As a community action agency that connects low-income households with resources, Wildfire will do everything we can to support Governor Hobbs bringing more LIHEAP money into the state. "The program was initially designed to help cold-weather communities keep residents heated in the winter, but it has evolved to become an important resource for air conditioning assistance in hot summers, said Wildfire Executive Director, Kelly McGowan. Wildfire will match community donations up to $500,000 in donations to repair and replace HVAC units for qualifying low-income individuals at no cost to them -- bringing the total raise to $1,000,000. The more we are able to raise in donations, the greater the impact we can make.
