For the first time ever, the state of Texas has completed a greenhouse gas inventory. TCEQ has identified priority measures which could reduce GHGs by 174 million metric tons (MMT) from 2025 through 2030 and 592 MMT from 2025 through 2050. This is a nice example of the huge effects that the Inflation Reduction Act are starting to have across the US. For the first time, state governments are putting together comprehensive plans to monitor and reduce climate pollution, which are supported and coordinated by the EPA. This is happening much later and more slowly than it should be, but it’s exciting to see this happening nationwide nonetheless.
