If your organization would like to integrate voting efforts into your work, start with NAEH's guide and follow along as we share information and resources leading up to election day!

Your housing status does not affect your ability to vote — but it does make it harder. To help, I've created a step-by-step, one-page resource for homeless Ontarians to be able to vote in the upcoming provincial election on February 27th. Link to download the PDF: https://lnkd.in/gx2zPR7B AGENCY WORKERS: Make sure to ask your Executive Directors if they have authorized themselves with Elections Ontario to be able to 'vouch' for homeless service users. Familiarize yourself with the process. EXECUTIVE DIRECTORS: Get authorized! And let your staff know that you are able and willing to ensure that your homeless service users can vote.

Homeless service providers can help clients vote this election season! Election Day is approaching and in California, eligible voters, including those experiencing homelessness, can register using an address like a shelter or description of their living location. It's crucial to ensure our unhoused community can vote. Support our unhoused community and spread the word! Here’s how service providers can prepare: - Help clients register to vote - Assist with obtaining proper IDs - Provide voter guides and education on candidates - Utilize early voting and absentee ballots - Suspend shelter curfews to avoid barriers - Offer transportation to polling stations Every voice matters! Let’s ensure everyone can exercise their right to vote. #Vote2024 #EndHomelessness #ElectionDay #EveryVoteCounts

Voting is a powerful tool for change, and your support can help ensure that the voices of individuals experiencing homelessness are heard. As trusted providers, your involvement makes a critical impact. Why Should Providers Get Involved? Promote racial equity:?Many people experiencing homelessness come from historically marginalized communities. Supporting them in navigating the voting process helps reduce participation gaps and fosters equity. Every voice counts:?Everyone has the right to be heard at the polls, including those without stable housing. Their vote can shape decisions that directly impact their lives and communities. Early voting is ending soon:?In Georgia, early voting ends this Friday. Now is the time to assist clients with accessing polling locations and exercising their rights. For more information and guidance on how to engage in these efforts, visit the @National Alliance to End Homelessness resource:?https://lnkd.in/gm4SW6n Thank you for your dedication to empowering your clients. Together, we can ensure everyone has an equal opportunity to participate in our democracy.

A novel approach to forcing local government to enforce public nuisance laws. I can see this type of law catching on. "Arizona voters overwhelmingly adopted Proposition 312, a first-of-its-kind law that requires local governments to compensate property and business owners for damage created by the homelessness crisis plaguing many cities. Approved by nearly 60% of voters, the measure holds government officials accountable for refusing to enforce laws against crimes related to homelessness, including vandalism, public urination and drug use."
