This is the start of phase two of OpenAI's 5 stage progression of AI: Stage 1: Chatbots with conversational language Stage 2: Reasoners, human-level problem solving Stage 3: Agents, systems that can take action Stage 4: Innovators, AI that can aid in innovation Stage 5: Organizations, AI that can do the work of an organization. OpenAI o1 Released - first model with ‘reasoning’ abilities. This is interesting news. Previously code named Strawberry and Q*. A model that can “reason” logically through many difficult problems and is smarter than existing AI without a major scale-up. The model is thinking longer and strategically about the prompt questions to develop solutions. Internally it's using something similar to Chain-of-Thought prompting and reasoning before it produces the result. Think about using it for research and analysis problems, logic or mathematical or scientific type problems, or more complex computer coding tasks. > Available to ChatGPT Plus and Teams users first, then later to free users.
