?? Six Years Since Leaving the Navy: What I’ve Learnt ?? On the 19th of September, I marked six years since I left the Navy. It’s been an incredible journey, and while the transition wasn’t always smooth, I’ve learned so much along the way: 1. Embrace Change – Civilian life is a whole new ball game, but I’ve learned to navigate the twists and turns with an open mind. 2. Resilience – The discipline and adaptability I gained in the Navy have been invaluable as I’ve faced new challenges. 3. Finding Passion – I’ve discovered my passion lies in helping others with their own career transitions. It’s a rewarding new mission. 4. Continuous Learning – Life is one big learning curve, and I’ve embraced every lesson along the way. 5. Building Friendships – Leaving the Navy hasn’t stopped me from continuing to make amazing friends who’ve supported and shaped my journey. Reflecting on these six years, I’m grateful for the growth, the people I’ve met, and the opportunities ahead. After over 22 years in the Marine Corps, I’ve officially taken the plunge and started submitting job applications for the first time in my life. It’s been an interesting ride—full of emotions I didn’t quite expect. What’s exciting: New possibilities– It feels strange but exciting to think about how I can apply all the skills I developed in the military to a whole new world. There’s a lot out there, and that’s motivating. Fresh start– There’s something energizing about the idea of starting over. The chance to grow, learn new things, and challenge myself in new ways has me looking forward to what’s next. What’s a little tough (aside from the rejections): Uncertainty– After spending over two decades in the Marines, the job market feels like uncharted territory. It’s definitely overwhelming at times, but I’m slowly getting the hang of it. Letting go– The hardest part is knowing that I’m closing a chapter on a career that’s shaped so much of who I am. But I also know it’s not an ending—it’s just the next step. At the end of the day, I’m feeling optimistic. I know the transition won’t be easy, but I’m ready to see what the next adventure holds. #TransitioningVeteran #NewBeginnings #CareerChange #VeteranJourney
