I discovered a new word Placemaking - it is very capacious and describes important complex concepts in one word. Let's take a closer look at it. ??Placemaking is the transformation of urban locations into places that bring people together, inspire and bring a sense of community. I have been working with the concept of placemaking for several years now and I see how the right approach to space changes the environment around us. It's not just about functionality, it's about living and breathing the city with us ??? - Community involvement is always the first step. It is important that all stakeholders, including residents and local businesses, participate in the creation and development of such zones. - Urban spaces should be accessible and safe for everyone, regardless of age, physical ability, or social status. - It also has a huge impact on social connections. When designed well, they become places for meetings, interaction, and support. - And finally, environmental sustainability. I've been on an absolute connection rampage with placemakers recently. Placemaking is the act of designing and managing physical spaces in such a way that it improves urban vitality and promotes better health, happiness, and well-being for visitors and the local community. I'm absolutely fascinated by the idea of leveraging placemaking to drive social impact, and figuring out how we measure that impact to continuously improve our spaces. Given the information density of visual observations from CCTV cameras, I'm sure there's a strong play for Fyma here to help drive some kind of quantitative social impact benchmarking, which can provide deeper context when paired with qualitative insights. Already having some fascinating convos in this area but would love to speak with any placemakers or regeneration development managers to explore this concept further.
