PR projects are my favorite aspect of people-to-people communication. They offer a creative and strategic way to build a bridge between what we do and its significance for others. Through #PRprojects we can convey our values and engage others, turning them into ambassadors who help spread our message. I love creating experiences that resonate deeply with people. For example, the NEBO Festival, which I co-founded, was all about culture and senses. We designed it as an event for families where artists, musicians, and creators could showcase their talents. We communicated family values and our national identity through decorations, content, activities, and messaging. The festival became viral thanks to its engaging corners where people could take pictures and videos, all connected by a #. Today, building communities is about aligning on values, motives, and desires. There are no limitations to the formats we can use—only our imagination sets the boundaries. In 2017, I was ready to walk away. Frustrated. Disillusioned. Questioning if I belonged in the events industry. Every event I watched felt the same. As I dive deeper into holiday season events and working with different clubs and companies, and catering to different audiences while still trying to "do what I do," I'm realizing more so all of the challenges we DJ's face on a regular basis, and that my fellow MC's / Hosts face also, that we take for granted because it's become like muscle memory, and most of you all don't ever get to see. Hence that meme that went viral where the girl said "what do dj's actually do?" So let me enlighten a few of you real quick today. The challenge of moving a crowd: For DJs: ? Mastering diverse genres ? Reading the crowd's mood ? Seamless transitions ? High-energy engagement ? Real-time adaptability ? Creating unique experiences ? Handling technical issues ? One of my favourite festivals to date is by far MAD//Fest - which just happened this past week. Such great inspirations, connections, and valuable learnings experiences. However the highlight for me was undoubtedly watching Rory Sutherland on stage. One particular anecdote really stood out - he told it in front of over 500 people so I guess I can tell it here:) One time right before going on stage he went to the bathroom where the washbasin went into spasm and deposited a huge amount of water in the front of his pants. While he was desperately trying to think of a solution…a miracle happened and it started raining. So he went out to stand in the rain and came on stage all soaked. Yes admittedly unusual, but better than the alternative he thought… So why am I telling this story apart from the comedy angle…He brilliantly linked this experience to the concept of non-linear problem solving. A lot of progress actually happens backwards, in a non linear fashion. You might lose the clarity when not going forward but you gain an enormous surface for creativity. In essence, the opposite of an idea is another good idea. How does he tie it to this point? He says, “Sometimes instead of drying the wet patch, you need to wet the dry patch.” Brilliant storytelling ???? While it’s a great metaphor for the importance of embracing unconventional methods, I think the real value lies in how you could turn such a story into an intellectual learning!
