Finding better ways to move our city's many visitors and residents from venue to venue, neighborhood to neighborhood and across our growing city has been a goal of Nashville's for years. Now, that transportation goal is in sight. Nashville is moving forward in a major way with its strong approval of the “Choose How You Move” transit plan introduced by Mayor Freddie O'Connell. The Nashville Stars join the broader community in thanking Mayor O'Connell for his leadership. With this growing pool of support, Nashville is well-positioned to serve residents and visitors, commuters and sports fans, offering a memorable experience wherever they travel in Music City.

Philly, and specifically South Street, can and should be this kind of place. "Did Burlington have any policies that would have made a band like Phish more likely to happen there than anywhere else? Did its public art program, education policy, licensing framework or strategic plan have anything to do with it? Or did Phish just happen? Is it possible for a city to create a globally famous band? Can deliberate education, economic, social, cultural and tourism policies be designed to tilt the scales? Phish thinks so, and they may have a point." ATTN: Allan Domb ://https://lnkd.in/ezbu2vJC

As a Florida resident, this weekend was quite eventful: while Palm Beach County's exciting approval of a new Vanderbilt University campus signals incredible educational and entrepreneurial opportunities ahead, we were reminded of life's fragility with tragic accidents and stirring music festival memories across the state. - Fatal Motorcycle Accident in Lantana: A woman made an illegal left turn on South Dixie Highway, colliding with a motorcycle and resulting in the death of a 26-year-old motorcyclist. The incident occurred on Friday afternoon, and the woman failed to stop for a no-turn signal. - Boat Fire at Dania Beach Marina: Authorities responded to a boat fire at Nautical Ventures Marina Service Center late Friday afternoon. At least one person was hurt, and firefighters worked to put out the flames. The extent of additional injuries or deaths is not yet clear. - Approval for Vanderbilt University Campus in West Palm Beach: Palm Beach County leaders unanimously approved the next steps to create a new Vanderbilt University campus in downtown West Palm Beach. The campus will span 300,000 square feet and include an innovation hub to connect local entrepreneurs with academic programming and research. - Traffic Adjustments in Durango and Florida Road: Temporary traffic signals are in place in Durango, and adjustments are being made to signal timing to improve traffic flow on Florida Road. Motorists are advised to be patient during this period. - THE FEST 22 Music Festival in Gainesville: THE FEST 22, an independent multi-day music festival, concluded on October 27, 2024, in Gainesville, Florida. The festival featured numerous bands, including Hot Water Music, Superchunk, and Joyce Manor, with several bands performing full album sets. #FloridaNews #PalmBeachCounty #VanderbiltUniversity #EducationOpportunities #CommunitySafety #MusicFestival #TheFest22 #Entrepreneurship #WestPalmBeach #FloridaEvents

???? ?????????????? ??????????????, ?????????????? ??????????????. Recently, I shared that every $?? ???????????????? ???? ???????? ?????? ?????????????? ?????????????? $???? ???? ???????????????? ??????????. Josh O'Kane's latest article in The Globe and Mail shows the tough situation our industry is in right now. Government funding is down, donations are down, costs are up, and people aren't attending events like they did before the pandemic. This isn't new to us in the community, but we need to change how we think about our industry. Matt McGeachy is right: we need to push our elected officials to support us like they do other important industries. As supporters, we need to be smart about our giving and learn how to make a bigger impact. We should think of ourselves not just as donors helping struggling artists, but as ?????????????????? helping our community grow. As leaders in the arts industry, we need to adopt successful fundraising models used by hospitals, universities, and other charities and take a stronger focus on planned giving. -------------------------------------- ??????, ??'?? ????????. ?? ???????? ???????????????? ?????????????? ?????????????? ?????????? ????????????????, ????????????, ?????? ???????????? ?????????? ???????????? ???? ???????????? ???? ????????, ??????????????, ?????? ?????????? ??????????????????. ???? ?????? ?????????? ???????? ???????? ????????????????????, ???????????? ????—?? ???????? ???? 8:45 ???? ??????-??????. ???????? ???????? ???? ?????????? ???????? ???????????? ?????? ?????????? ??????????????. ???? ?????? ???????? ?????????????????? ?????????? ?????????????????? ????????????, ???????? ???? ?? ????.
Here it is: "Governments have no problem throwing billions at other industries." I went to a talk the other day that spoke of the need to transcend the "industrial" mindset of arts leadership. While I sympathize with the impulse, I reject the premise: Canada, the Provinces, and municipalities have *never* treated arts and culture funding like industrial policy, nor have arts and culture institutions spoken of themselves as an industry. We're a "sector." Or worse, a "community." Rather than working to transcend, I'm focused on shifting the mindset towards arts policy as industrial policy. Performing arts is a multi-billion dollar industry, within an even larger multi-billion dollar cultural industry. It's time to start thinking of ourselves this way, and working with government on political and policy projects that treat us like the economic and societal drivers we are. To do less is to shoot ourselves in the collective foot. https://lnkd.in/eMpUepZM

Our Bruce Wawrzyniak was in Nashville last week. That followed his having been in Alabama a few weeks earlier. And that was right after he'd just spent time in New York City. Today we posted our blog for this week, encouraging you to go find opportunities that might be out there for you, which you likely won't get if you shut it down and just stay home. Use the link below to read the full post and get actual examples of where maybe you should get yourself to -- even if locally. #musicbiz #connections #opportunities

"...dark humor." ?? Jamie Dunphy As tough as things are for our small businesses in #Portland they will never advocate for, joke about or even allude to violence being the answer to the challenges they face. 1. Anyone running for elected office or looking to serve as a public official should never be referencing words of violence when debating issues facing the community (especially in public settings). 2. To specifically mention "firebombs" tells me either you don't know the very real history in the US (and in Portland) where firebombing actually occurred OR you know the history and you just lack the ability to to articulate yourself in public settings in a professional way. 3. Saying that small businesses in the community referred to firebombing when giving you "feedback" and that you were just repeating what they shared with you tells us you have a problem taking accountability for the words that come out of your mouth. Our local business owners have enough on their plates and you throwing them under the bus to deflect from your poor decision making shouldn't be something they are burdened with. I was hoping to read this article where one of our current city council candidates took complete accountability for their poor choice of words and vowed to do better. Instead, I got someone who deflected, shifted the blame and showed little ability to be empathetic. This is not what leadership looks like, this is not how you advocate for our small business community and this is not what what we need on our future city council. Andrew Colas I am sorry you have to take your time away from your company and family to entertain comments like this. I am also sorry to the small business owners, artists and creatives who are working so hard to make our city better and to earn livings, you don't deserve to be part of stuff like this. I look forward to seeing an apology from MusicPortland board and leadership for the insensitive (at best) choice of words by their board member since he doesn't appear willing to do. My favorite thing about living in Nashville? Broadway, of course. But it’s NOT what you think. In fact, you’ll rarely find me hopping from honky tonk to honky tonk any day of the week. ?? What makes Broadway truly unique isn’t just the live music or the endless flow of beer. It’s the strategic partnerships between brands, artists, and tourism that make this strip so successful. Contrary to popular belief, most bars associated with country music stars aren’t fully owned by the stars themselves. Instead, these venues are typically the result of partnerships or licensing agreements with larger hospitality groups or investors. Take Jason Aldean’s Kitchen + Rooftop Bar, Miranda Lambert’s Casa Rosa, or Luke Bryan’s 32 Bridge—all of them leverage the artist’s brand to attract crowds, while the day-to-day operations and financial backing come from companies like TC Restaurant Group or Big Machine Label Group. These entities manage the business while artists focus on the branding and overall vibe. What’s more, when a star fades, these venues can easily rebrand for the next rising star. For instance, FGL House closed after Florida Georgia Line disbanded, and it’s being replaced by Lainey Wilson’s Bell Bottoms Up. The modern artist-branded bar may seem like a trend, but it all started with Tootsie Bess—the country music star who opened Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge in the 1960s on Lower Broadway. She set the stage for today’s music-themed venues. So, who’s next? Personally, I’d love to see a Texas/Red Dirt country invasion on Broadway. Maybe a George Strait “Strait Shooter Bar” or a “Hold My Beer Bar” headlined by Randy Rogers and Wade Bowen. What do you think? No matter who steps up next, one thing is for sure: Broadway will remain a must-visit destination for tourists and a prime spot for industry leaders looking to invest in Nashville’s music-driven economy. And I’m all for it! ???????? #Partnerships #CountryMusic #Tourism #StrategicPartnerships #Licensing #Nashville

New Post: Executive Turntable: PierFerd Partners Up; Vegas Stadium Gets New GM; Warner Chappell UK Promotes VP of?Sync - https://lnkd.in/gGDdDdZg - It’s time to drop the needle on another?Executive Turntable, Billboard’s comprehensive(ish) compendium of promotions, hirings, exits and firings — and all things in between — across music. We also have an interview series spotlighting a single executive each week and a regularly updated gallery honoring many of the industry figures we’ve lost throughout the year. Denise Stevens joined Pierson Ferdinand (aka PierFerd) as partner and co-chair of the firm’s global media, entertainment and sports practice. Based in Nashville and Los Angeles, Stevens’ expertise is in talent, creative and tech across music, publishing, touring and other fields. She was previously a partner at Loeb & Loeb and this year made Billboard‘s list of top music lawyers. Earlier this century, she authored the bill that ultimately became the Songwriters Capital Gains Tax Equity Act, which was signed into law in 2006, and she regularly offers counsel and assistance to songwriters and their heirs on copyright recapture issues. “I have known Denise essentially my entire career, having been on the opposite side of deals from her from time-to-time for more than two decades,” said Steven S. Sidman, co-chair of PierFerd’s Global Media, Entertainment & Sports practice. “I much prefer being on the same team as her, and I am delighted to finally work alongside Denise as one of the co-leaders of our group.” Related Music Industry 40 Under 40: Execs & Power Players?2024 05/30/2024 Alex Machurov joined the American Association of Independent Music (A2IM) as head of business development, effectively immediately.
