In this work, we introduce SEPID, a comprehensive student support system designed to enhance online learning experiences using Gilly Salmon's e-tivities five-stage model. ?SEPID aims to provide structured support for students in virtual learning environments across cognitive, emotional, and systemic dimensions. So grateful to be given the opportunity to present my abstract, "THE DRIVE TO THRIVE: Mentorship as a Catalyst for First-Generation College Student Success", at the CURBS Undergraduate Fall Symposium! As a first-generation college student myself, I know firsthand the distinct academic, social, and mental health challenges FGCSs face: from navigating unfamiliar institutional norms to dealing with social isolation and economic stress. These hurdles often translate into lower retention and graduation rates, a reality I’m passionate about changing. My research highlights the power of mentorship as a transformative tool to foster FGCS success. By synthesizing key studies on mentorship strategies, I explored how mentorship programs increase retention rates by 10-15%, promote cultural adjustment, and narrow career development gaps through diverse, multi-mentor models. The THRIVE program I designed embodies this approach, offering tailored academic, social, career, and mental health support to empower FGCSs to truly thrive.
