In the planning of the D. Day, logistic became one of the main topics by the Allied High Command. However, the priority was to select the objective, or geographical spots areas, which were strongest defended. Second, the montage of the channel crossing included number of personnel, vehicles, artillery, tanks, munitions, food diary supplied, etc., in addition to the strategy plan, logistic became crucial and for practical solutions. Transport and the construction of the two prefabricated harbours, indispensable if the Armies were to be supplied while the enemy controlled the major French ports. Retrospectively, in the mind of W.S. Churchill was 1915 Dardanelles' experience. Victory could be transformed in a total defeat. What to do? The solution was an engineering plan to support the invasion until the French ports were available. The necessity of artificial harbours became the right logistic-strategy who final concluded with the Allied successful invasion to Normandy and later the liberation of Paris. (C) Autor Copyright.

Stratagems of WWII in Normandy. Mulberry Harbour, one of the immense concrete caissons of this prefabricated harbour, towered across the channel and assembly on the coast of Normandy. An incredible use of Engineering knowledge and skills indispensable for the army supply while the enemy clung to the major French ports.

What a great photo of F-4s on the Kingsley ramp! The photo instantly made me recall some of the thousands of selflessness and wise words and actions I witnessed those pilots who flew F-4s over Vietnam and Oregon say and perform to me and their student pilots during my early years at Kingsley Field as an operations intelligence analyst (fighter intel). There is so much to respect about these guys, it’s difficult to keep this post concise. I’ll leave it at this: tough times make strong men. And by strong men men in this case, it made capable and compassionate leaders who ended up creating the culture Kingsley Field became known for. From the name sake of the base, to the high water mark of Maj “Wild Bill” Morris who built the F-4 fighter pilot school house, to Billy Cox who singlehandedly wrote Kingsley Field from a squadron to a wing (base) using his tremendous personal capital, the story of Kingsley Field is packed with leaders and leadership actions you could write several books about. As construction occurs on Kingsley Field… as ramps, runways and structures are erected… I am going to be thinking about the rise in talent of leadership at Kingsley Field back to what it has seen in the past as the best and the brightest pilots striving to fly the newest most advanced fighters show up on Kingsley Field to fly… and eventually lead. In my experience, the fall of the “mighy mighy” to its only variable foe - the scientific fact that metal wings and structures only get to pull Gs so many times before they break, has brought atleast two or three leadership talent gaps in Commaner roles on the base. These gaps undermine good order and discipline, fiduciary accountability and the culture that once persisted on the base. When the Airforce divests itself of an airframe your organization is employing; you will not have talented USAF Academy grads, ROTC grads or “off the street” pilot applicants entering your organization. When this happens, “the others” you get, who never would have made command in a competative environment eventually end up as Commanders to fill leadership gaps. As a senior enlisted leader you can tell when this is happening in your organization. It might be the passing of the guidon without a 1Sgt, appointment of incompetent enlisted leaders, empire building or the use of resources for personal gain; typically a duty status change. So. Here’s to those who gave some, those who gave all and tye Land of No Slack! I’m hopeful all those F-35s come with top top talent leadership… which is the foundation Kingsley Field was truly built upon.

?? Why having an #Architect in your #project is crucial for its #surviving? The reason why most staircases in medieval castles were built to be extremely narrow and spiraling in a clockwise direction is: Since medieval castles were built mainly as fortifications, staircases were designed to make it extremely difficult for enemy combatants to fight their way up. Since most soldiers were right-handed, they would need to round each curve of the inner wall before attempting to strike, inevitably exposing themselves in the process. The clockwise spiral staircase also allowed the defenders to use the inner wall as a partial shield and easily allow them to swing their weapon without being hindered by the curvature of the outer wall. The stairs were also intentionally poorly lit and built to be uneven, making it even more difficult for the attackers to gain any sort of balance or momentum during their fight up to capture the castle.

As someone deeply involved in the woodworking industry, I’ve had my fair share of tools that promise efficiency but fall short. That was until I discovered this Stapler Gun. This tool is not just a piece of equipment; it’s a game-changer for professionals. The stapler gun boasts an impressive loading capacity and comes with different size specifications to cater to various tasks – from delicate furniture framing to robust window and door installations. Its precision in corner and butt jointing has significantly reduced my project times while enhancing the overall quality of the build. What sets this stapler gun apart is its ease of use. The ergonomic design reduces fatigue during long hours of work, which is crucial for maintaining productivity in the workshop or on-site. I highly recommend this Stapler Gun to any carpentry professional looking to elevate their craft. It’s reliable, efficient, and an absolute necessity in today’s fast-paced construction environment.

At least seven years between deployments: Although the Navy says it will be able to fix the amphibious assault ship Boxer’s (LHD-4) rudder issues pierside, the service is now planning for the problem-ridden ship to be docked for at least 18 months starting next spring. The new notice that Boxer will be sidelined for maintenance follows years of engineering problems plaguing the ship going back to 2019, the last time it successfully deployed. The Boxer's long journey to her deployment began after she underwent a $200 million, two-year overhaul that ended in 2022. After that overhaul, the Boxer briefly put to sea in June 2022; then, for more than a year, the ship stayed in port. A. command investigation, released to Military.com via a Freedom of Information Act request, revealed that between January and November 2023, the ship was investigated for at least three different engineering breakdowns that, according to the Boxer's strike group commander, were "caused by a lack of procedural compliance, substandard supervisory oversight, and general complacency by the crew." The ship deployed at the start of April 2024 for a deployment that was set to start late last year after suffering months of maintenance delays but was forced to return to port just 10 days later after suffering an issue with its rudder. https://lnkd.in/eqfcpjYU

I would just note that while current USMC leadership may wish for Marines' "sell by date" to date to be fast and across the board. The reality in retail and in life is that such dates are subjective recommendations that are precautionarily conservative in comparison to the actual date when any real spoilage may occur. And if we are really being honest, the sell by date in many ways is a retail gimmick to keep products moving much quicker than they might were no such date posted on the product packaging. Max service ranging from 20-30 years depending on rank, is also arbitrary with little connection to the capabilities of the service member to continue serving and/or to offer critical strategic and intelectual insight, and more related to up and out policies to keep manpower tables flowing and asymmetrical without any pools or bubbles at any particular rank or grade. But HQMC is quick to dismiss the critical comments of retired officers by playing the retired card as if that is some type of sell by date for competence and capability.
