Today marks my 6th anniversary at OneGoal, and I can’t help but feel overwhelmed with gratitude and joy. It’s been an incredible journey, and to celebrate, I want to share three reflections that have shaped my time here: 1. Self-care is everything. In a mission-driven space like ours, it’s easy to pour endlessly into the work. But I’ve learned that I can only bring my best self to this team and our students because we truly value each other here. People matter, and that makes all the difference. 2. Diverse experiences lead to lasting impact. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of contributing to 4 out of the 5 functional teams in our region. Each role brought its own set of challenges and growth, but it’s in these varied experiences that I’ve been able to shape our systems and help drive our program’s success. I’ve seen firsthand how every perspective strengthens us. 3. Lead with, not above. As a leader, I’ve learned the importance of doing the work alongside my team. Growth doesn’t happen in isolation, and I’ve continued to develop not only as a professional but also as a partner to those around me. It’s the relationships we build that make the work meaningful. Here’s to many more years, even greater impact in NYC, and continuing to grow with each of you by my side.

Some dates are always special such as today, the date when we launched Silver Talkies Club six years ago in 2018, based on the inputs from attendees of our events. They wanted to meet more often, know their co-participants better and have more fun and engaging opportunities. Hence Silver Talkies Club was born in a time and age when active ageing, loneliness and isolation among older adults were not spoken about or discussed much in our country. I was in fact told by many peers that I was playing in a small niche field. Fast forward to 2024, almost every new player in the senior care space is looking at addressing similar issues with similar models. Did we start too early or did they start too late? I think it is immaterial for as they say that all's well that ends well. What is most heartening for me is to note that in the pic below all the people who became members in 2018 are still members in 2024, with the exception of one member whom we lost a few months ago. How do you celebrate success with your team? Celebrating success together isn't just about acknowledging achievements; it's about building a culture of appreciation and motivation. It binds the team and sets the stage for future victories. How does your team celebrate its wins? Let's talk about creating a culture of celebration. ??

"But how did you celebrate that?" Someone asked me that in a meeting last week when discussing hitting KPIs. It caught me off guard a bit. How do I usually celebrate? I just set a new goal, that's it. As a goal-orientated, list-driven perfectionist, I've realised just how difficult I find celebrating. I'm constantly looking towards what's next or how far I have to go, instead of how far I've come. And it's not always great to skip the toast. Because celebrating will help: ?? Remind you what works (cue: repeat success) ???Boost motivation (key for long-term sustainability)? ???Share the win with the people around you (team work = dream working) So, my reminder for today: Take stock and toast to the wins. 2 weeks ago I turned 43. Reflecting on endings rather than lessons, I realized the struggle I face in saying goodbye. (Saying farewell feels better ????♂?) Priya Parker’s "The Art of Gathering" shed light on my difficulty with endings – perhaps because I'm hesitant to accept that it's truly the end. Recently, while facilitating a 3-day leadership program (I believe it was cohort 14 ??), I found myself grappling with this challenge. As day 3 drew to a close, I postponed my Lyft ride until the very last minute. Why? So I could squeeze in… + one more conversation ??? + one more handshake ?? + one more fist bump ????. Regrettably, time didn't allow for these farewells ??. The three-day journey had reached its conclusion. It was a somber ride to the airport with my recurring temptations tapping me on the shoulder. Maybe they whisper in your ear too. Here’s what they suggest… 1. try to replicate the same experience for future cohorts (unsuccessful, as each group forges a unique path) 2. offer similar experiences to other clients (proven ineffective for the same reason as #1) 3. nostalgically wish to relive past experiences with former cohort members (an impossible feat). Embracing endings with grace and acceptance remains a work in progress for me, but each conclusion signifies a new beginning. You might be sad because… + the project is over + the client is moving on + the team is breaking up It’s ok to let go. In order to continue the lead with impact we can’t handcuff the present with the memories of what brought smiles to our faces (or increased our bottom line) in the past. Learn to stay goodbye (or farewell). Let go. And say hello to what’s next!

Today marks my two-year work anniversary with Rodericks Dental Partners, and what an incredible journey it’s been! ?? As a Practice Manager, I’ve learned so much and developed skills that have shaped both my leadership and the success of our practice. Here are some key takeaways so far: 1. Organization is everything – Keeping track of multiple tasks, schedules, and teams has taught me the importance of structure and planning. 2. Communication is key – Whether it's with patients, staff, or senior leadership, clear and open communication helps ensure everyone is aligned and working towards the same goals. 3. Prioritizing deadlines – Balancing urgent tasks with long-term goals requires constant focus on what’s most important at any given time. 4. Problem-solving under pressure – Every day brings new challenges, and I’ve learned how to stay calm and find solutions quickly, ensuring smooth operations. 5. Team empowerment – Supporting and empowering my team is critical to our success. When they grow, we all succeed.
