?? What If Everything We Know About Improvement Is… Backwards? Let’s flip the script on continuous improvement! Instead of focusing on fixing problems, let’s explore what’s already working exceptionally well—and uncover why. ?? The Reverse Improvement Challenge Rather than patching weaknesses, let’s: 1. Spot hidden excellence. 2. Understand its success. 3. Spread the magic elsewhere. ?? How to Discover and Amplify Success 1. Find Hidden Excellence ? Identify processes that flow effortlessly. ? Notice teams that collaborate seamlessly. ? Highlight meetings or tasks that run like clockwork. 2. Decode the Secret Sauce ? What makes these examples stand out? ? Which habits, tools, or mindsets drive success? ? How did these practices evolve? 3. Multiply the Magic ? Replicate these success factors in other areas. ? Share insights and tips. ? Create more success stories by amplifying what already works. ?? Real-Life Example A team kept their email inboxes clear without stress. Their secret? They gamified it with “Inbox Zero Heroes.” Now, five other teams are thriving using the same method! ?? Your Challenge 1. Spot Excellence: ? Find 3 things working better than expected—no matter how small! 2. Be Curious: ? Talk to those involved. ? Map out the reasons behind the success. 3. Share and Replicate: ? Spread the discoveries. ? Test these patterns in new areas. ?? Ask Yourself ? What’s working better than expected? ? What problems aren’t happening (but could)? ? Where is success hiding in plain sight? ?? Your Mission This weekend, do one thing: 1. Find a smooth-running process. 2. Uncover what makes it work. 3. Share your insights to inspire others. Remember: Sometimes the biggest improvements come from amplifying success. What excellence will you uncover today? #ReverseImprovement #FocusOnStrengths #ContinuousImprovement #myci #agile #funatwork #leansixsigma

Applying Ali Abdaal's Discipline Mindsets to hashtag #ProductManagement Recently, I came across a fantastic YouTube video by Ali Abdaal that discussed “Five mindset shifts for effortless discipline”. It truly got me to thinking. I could see tons of ways these ideas might be useful in my day-to-day work as a #ProductManager. Here’s how: 1. Mental Contrasting: Ali discusses the value of seeing achievement while acknowledging possible roadblocks. This has a lot to do with product management. It makes us more organized and ready when I envision our product's successful launch while also foreseeing potential obstacles. 2. Implementation Goals: Using "if-then" planning has shown to be a very helpful strategy. For instance, "We'll immediately convene a team to fix if a major bug is reported." We become much more nimble and prepared to deal with problems as they arise when we have a prearranged reaction like this. 3. Minimize Environmental Friction: It's critical to optimize our workspace. We've simplified our procedures and used technologies like JIRA to make it simpler for everyone to remain focused and productive. The impact of even a small amount of decluttering is remarkable. 4. Monitoring and Tracking: We cannot ignore the need to keep tabs on developments. We can keep in line with our objectives and make rapid adjustments when necessary by using tools to track our sprints and key performance indicators. 5. Energizing and Making it Fun: Lastly, having fun during the process is a major factor. Our staff stays motivated by sharing positive user feedback and acknowledging little victories. Rewarding work makes it simpler to maintain discipline. Ali has excellent advice for both #ManagingProducts and #SelfDiscipline. I strongly advise you to watch his video if you work in product management. ?? Which work-related productivity strategies have you found to be helpful? As a continuous improvement professional, I've always been passionate about optimizing processes. But it wasn't until I applied David Allen's Getting Things Done (GTD) methodology to my own workflow that I truly experienced a personal productivity revolution. ?? Here's how GTD has transformed my way of working and skyrocketed my productivity: Capture: I now collect all tasks, ideas, and commitments in one central system. This mental offloading has freed up cognitive space for more strategic thinking. Clarify: Processing my captures into clear, actionable steps has become second nature. This mirrors how we break down complex processes in CI, making big projects less daunting. Organize: Categorizing actions by project, context, or priority has brought unprecedented clarity to my work. It's like applying 5S to my mind - everything has its place! Reflect: Regular system reviews, akin to gemba walks, ensure I'm always aligned with my goals and priorities. Engage: With a clear overview of my commitments, I now tackle tasks with confidence, knowing I'm focused on the right things at the right time. GTD hasn't just made me more productive; it's made me a better CI professional. By experiencing the power of a well-designed system firsthand, I've gained deeper insights into how small changes can lead to significant improvements - a principle at the heart of continuous improvement. Have you incorporated GTD or similar systems into your CI work? I'd love to hear how it's impacted your productivity and professional growth. We observe #patterns … In times where agility becomes the norm to survive, buzzwords become commodity as product people and executives return to making an impact. The effect is that an agile mindshift often happens w/o the inflated frameworks and snake oil. People resort to #timeless ways of performing as craftspeople have done for ages. Enter RE:Calibrate for guidance beyond buzzwords and focusing on maximizing needs met. For customers and employees. Marcelo Lopez, AKT, CST ... Neal Taylor JJ Sutherland

When we ignore the process, we fall into repetitive cycles without meaningful improvement. Focusing solely on the end result can lead to frustration and burnout. Embracing the process is key to sustainable growth and success. To shift our focus towards the process, here are some key steps: ?? **Cultivate a Growth Mindset**: View challenges as opportunities for improvement. Celebrate small victories in process enhancements just as much as final results. ?? **Continuous Learning and Improvement**: Implement Lean or Agile methodologies for iterative enhancements. Regularly assess successes, failures, and reasons behind them. ?? **Feedback Loops**: Establish robust feedback channels for team insights. Understanding what works and what needs adjustment leads to informed decisions and refinements. ?? **Documentation and Standardization**: Document effective processes and standardize them where feasible. This ensures repeatability and scalability of best practices. ?? **Invest in Training**: Provide continuous training not only on tasks but also on process enhancement. Equip your team with skills to analyze and refine workflows consistently. Shifting focus to the process can enhance efficiency, productivity, and overall success. Let's embrace the journey of improvement for better outcomes. #ProcessImprovement #GrowthMindset #ContinuousLearning
