There are 1,416 active global FemTech companies, with half of them founded in the last 5 years, indicating significant growth in the sector since 2019. 2. 85% of FemTech startups have at least one female founder, a higher proportion than in any other tech industry. 3. The United States leads with 716 FemTech startups, followed by the UK, France, Canada, and Israel. 4. Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) lead the distribution of product types in FemTech, with 32% of CPG companies focusing on menstrual products. 5. 75% of Care Delivery FemTech companies and 72% of Digital Health FemTech companies were founded in the last 5 years. 6. 78% of startups addressing female-specific Mental Health concerns, 74% of Menopause startups, and 66% of Chronic Conditions startups have emerged since 2019. 7. As of March 1, 2024, the FemTech industry had 15 IPOs and 149 M&As, with the average time to exit for FemTech companies ranging from 4 to 5.3 years. 8. Major FemTech acquirers include MedTech, BioTech, and Pharma companies, as well as other FemTech companies. 9. Predictions for 2024 include a greater emphasis on personalized health solutions, expansion into untapped health domains, the rise of FemTech in global health strategies, mainstream adoption and consumer demand, and increased funding through the public sector. We asked Brittany Barreto, Ph.D. what was most surprising to her during the preparation of the report: "I was most surprised about the rise of mental health, menopause, digital health, and telehealth companies over the last five years. They each saw significant growth, and I think we can point to the pandemic for its influence in the mental health, digital health, and telehealth companies. The rise in menopause, I believe, is due to cultural shifts and prominent women sharing openly about their menopause experience. I am excited to see what sectors see major growth over the next five years".
